Efficient production of vehicle components - one metal sheet, different physical properties

Ғылым және технология

The TemperBox® method allows to produce automotive components with different physical properties while saving material and energy.
To ensure the safety of vehicle passengers in the event of a collision, the installed vehicle parts must have different physical characteristics. The energy generated can then be absorbed by the vehicle‘s body parts in a controlled manner. According to conventional production methods, these parts are assembled from two different metal sheets. The company GEDIA Gebrüder Dingerkus GmbH manufactures components for the automotive industry that consist of only one metal sheet. The main feature: They nevertheless have different physical properties. This saves material in production and in the vehicle body.
The company's resource-saving manufacturing facility in Attendorn, in the German region of Sauerland, consists of two production areas. To combine two physical characteristics in one metal sheet, for example solid and flexible, the manufacturing facility applies the so-called TemperBox® method. The initial material is only partially heated for the forming process. An energy-efficient servo-hydraulic press brings the components into the correct shape.
As a result of the innovative production, the company achieves an annual saving of 1500 tonnes of raw material (sheet steel). Around 2 million kWh of energy are saved by the process and related energy optimisations (optimisation of cooling and furnace design) compared to conventional production processes.
The initial implementation of the patented TemperBox® method in combination with a servo-hydraulic press was funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment as part of the Environmental Innovation Programme (UIP).

Please make more videos. This was amazingly interesting. I'm sure it wasn't cheap, but the more you make, the more who'll follow (and know about you).
