EFAP Movies #3: Dracula Untold

Фильм және анимация

Wolf decided it was time for Rags and myself to suffer through the great epic that smothered the Dark Universe TM in it's crib.
Men cannot fear, what they cannot see.....*sigh*

    now I don't know the Dracula Untold mythos, but standard Dracula Vampire Mythos says that to be a vampire is to be Damned. not darned, Damned. capital 'D'. and I also don't know about you, but ensuring the love of MY life was Damned for eternity doesn't sound so hot an idea. if Vampires exist, probably so does the devil, and be Damned by the devil isn't anything I'd wish on anybody.

  • @amanibob1416

    @amanibob1416

    It's ludicrous as fu*k, since the original quote/idea is: "It is normal to fear what shadows/darkness hides, for it is not the same as to fear darkness itself, but rather to be one with the mind to fear the threat of the unknown". Said hostile force(s) is unquantified and "unknown", yeah, but it's still clearly identifiable as a threat, so it's not like a kid being scared of the creepy monsty hidding under the bed. That's more like bearing witness to an exploding mountain, (turning into a volcano), ten feet from their/ your house... You don't plug your nose to stop smelling the smoke and say "well I guess everything is fine" when Pompeii's goes *Kaboom* In other words: If you know it's either a threat or at least the source, (area), of great danger, then you can either try to neutralize said danger/threat, or you either GTFO, or surround and isolate, (quarantine). Witch-hunt aren't coming from known facts leading to mass-hysteria and crusades didn't get funded, organized and conducted because of a need for resources. They'd rather die trying to "cleanse the evil" rather than just be told to put on blindfolds because they couldn't handle being frightened by some spooky sh*t. A few dudes being afraid is reasonable for the time, but a whole army? They were all trained and used as cannon-fodder or worse, so no way that a whole battalion, (or more), went batsh*t insane, running away from Batman, only to turn around and walk rapidly in formation with blind devotion once... Well... Once they got a lot of blindfolds. Stupid movies are stupid.

    You just don't understand the mindset of the Hollywood writers who wrote this. Their fear of the dark stems from their inability to pay rent, electricity bills and so forth, which in turn triggers their crippling anxiety as they contemplate going back to working at Starbucks or some other profession in which their profound lack of creativity will not be a barrier to success. Vlad the Landlord is the true monster.

    Tywin is not Dracula, Bard is, Draculea means son of the dragon, Vlad II the father of Vlad III was known as Dracul (The Dragon) because he was on a Christian order called the Order of the Dragon, even on the beginning they call him son of the dragon (Dracul meant the devil too, so it was his nickname under enemy forces too, given his cruelty and prowess in battle), his armor has a dragon, etc. Bard was Draculea from birth. Edit: Apparently Tywin is in truth Caligula, according to Wikipedia.

Parents I have sometimes known to tell their children that if they close their eyes, the scary thing will go away. The father in turn has his children blinded so they'll not be scared. Or... The Sultan's thought process was "These tales of monsters are just lies, but seen as my men are superstitious, I'll give them something that will stop them from seeing the impaled men we are likely to see during our march." Outside of that I got nothing, blinded army is stupid from the get go :U

    Dracula Untold was amazing. I loved it. Definitely thin on writing though. The blindfold reasoning is that they don't want the common soldier to know they're going up against a supernatural demigod. You think anyone would stick around after seeing a bat-nuke? Definitely not. There is some sense to it, though I don't know how they expect them to do anything other than die. I guess maybe they'd still be a presence and could occupy the castle- if they can get past its walls. Maybe they expected to be able to take dracula out by some other means and the soldiers were cannon fodder as a distraction. Or soviet style tactics.

    Ok! This movie just pissed me F off so god damn much! Why!? Because the Dracula story CAN work and CAN be awsome! All the importaint plot details are there both from the original book and the historycal person! Hellsing actualy manged to nail it both in the show(Ultimate and the abridged) and Manga! Sorry but I will do a litle bit of "How can we fix this" segment right here. . 1st off, I would have put this WHOLE thing into a quick sum up BEFORE the movie. . 2nd I wouldn't made a pre-Dracula vampire. He would be the first and strongest because of it. As of how he turns into Vampy it would come from hes impailings. You see Draculy or Vlad had a pretty shitty childhood in Turkish captivity so he hated them with a burning passion. Furthermore he was determand to protects he country what ever it takes. And this would give an excelent outline for hes fall. Basicly he would comit all kinds of atrocities and would even make a deal with the Devil once he see that he can't protect hes land from the imens force. And Thus the first Vampire is born and slowly but surly he would become more and more ruthless to the point where the Turks leave out of fear and dispite saving them hes people can't help but to be triifyed by him. Stories start floating around and since he has to feed every now and than the classic Dracula is borne. It's not that hard to make. . This is what I would do honestly, altough I can come op with other plot detals If I spend some time thinking it trough a bit more. (Also sorry but english isn't my first language so miss spelling happenes)

    While I personally love the movie (but am not blind regarding the problems it has... eh... that was not an intentional pun...), I agree 100% with you that there should not have been a pre-Dracula vampire; some kind of demon, or warlock, or the Devil, or something should have taken the place of it. Or hell, maybe some unseen presence sort of like in Bram Stoker's Dracula (the film I mean).

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason you (Mauler) don't offer these commentaries as MP3 is because you sometime pause the movie to talk about something else? If that's the case, why not just edit the tracks so they match up to what appears on screen? You could put the tracks on Bandcamp and let people pay whatever they want from them. You could also do what YMS does and let someone else edit the tracks/movie for a "best bits montage" that you can post here on KZread. Hell, even I would have a crack at editing a short "Let's watch". Just a suggestion though. ;)
