I will never hate on Joel Schumacher. Batman and Robin was terrible, but Joel didn't make it out of malice towards the fans (à la Rian Johnson). Joel said he was just trying to make a fun movie, and he even apologized for letting fans down. Respect!

Also, goofy as it is, this is easily my favorite rendition of Gotham. Giant impractical ultra gothic architecture, statues holding up skyscrapers, districts with totally different feels to them...it feels like a 70s Batman comic, what can I say? Takes me back to being ten years old reading comics with my dad in the kitchen.

Gaby Droz Sort of an important distinction for her to make. Unless she said it that way on purpose so that he couldn’t know what she could actually do. I for one wouldn’t want to mess with someone that has spikes running through her bloodstream but acts perfectly natural. That’s probably a reach though.

I am firmly convinced this was always intended to be a modern twist on 60s Batman. It has the exact same level of camp; we just didn’t quite get there from Forever.

It's funny that this was almost concurrent with Batman, the Animated series, which people loved. And that wasn't a "gritty" Batman, but still a series that was telling some mature and thoughtful stories. So it didn't really kill Batman. Some say it killed Superhero Movies until Batman Begins, but even that is debatable if you're counting Blade, which came out in 1998.

It killed live action Batman films until 2005 though.

I had seen a lot of 80s Arnold movies before this, as a kid, (predator, commando, etc.) and so I knew how huge Arnold was and I always thought it was weird that he was cast as Mr. Freeze instead of Bane.... but I’m very glad he was chosen to deliver all those ice puns 😂 10/10 would recommend

Arnie is the only reason I watch this movie. Every time he opens his mouth, he spews gold

Showing my age here, but I saw this in the cinema (remember those?) opening day. My friend and I were the only two of eight people to start the film who didn't walk out by the sky surfing scene.

As someone who never saw Arnie undubbed before...i now fully understand why you english speakers made fun of him...roflmao...his career is even more astounding to me now. What a Great Man :)

Honestly I think Uma is the least hurt by this haha, she knows what kind of movie it is and chews the scenery in a fun way without being too crap I mean Arnie of course is great but definitely lost him work for a while Clooney managed to duck under the bad image but Robin and Batgirl got completely nuked

I love how you all collectively enjoy objectively inferior films, it genuinely exemplifies your stance of "just because a show is bad doesn't mean you can't like it."

Even the credits are insane. At 1:10:06 there's one for "Nora Fries and Principal Copsicles".

From the future; I can safely say this movie is actually better to watch than some of the recent marvel movies as of Summer 2022

As a Gen X'er, seeing this in the cinema, I had never heard as many groans as from the audience for this movie. Except with Highlander 2, which came close. With Batman and Robin, in a San Francisco theatre, there were two guys who'd been smooching during the trailers, but by the time the movie was 1/2 way thru, one of them said "Jęsùs Ch®ïst, tone it down, puh-leeeeeze!" His boyfriend muttered "This movie makes me feel like Charlton Heston."

I remembered the ending wrong. I recall thinking the "cure" was somehow powering freeze's suit and he sacrificed himself (by giving away the battery) to save alfred, as a thank you for batman saving his wife.

Interesting, a single compliment towards Silverstone's gluteueus maximus, which this film focuses on CONSTANTLY as does it's camerawork, and the comment magically disappears. *I* didn't put her in that costume or point the cameras on it, Shoemaker did. A LOT.

Anybody else disappointed the password to Alfred’s super secret Batman computer info wasn’t “Martha”? Nobody ever says that name.

This movie actually makes me feel sorry-yes, SORRY-for George f**king Clooney.

14:30 DasBo missed the second pun. After saying "Can you be cold?" (As in, emotionally cold by abandoning Robin) he says, "You have 11 minutes to thaw the bird." The obvious joke being that before cooking a frozen turkey you have to "thaw the bird."

Now I need to see them react to the 60s Batman movie. I love the scene where they figure out which villains are active because of puns. Also, what has yellow skin and writes?

Clooney is NOT the problem... its the insanity of the director's vision, the campy villains, and the absurd script.
