Hi Dan, it's a bit late, but..I wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I haven't seen you on youtube since last year .

Cobblers might be one of the least appreciated and best professions. When I dropped off a few pairs of shoes for repair the head man noticed and asked about a scar on the back of my calf. When I explained it was from having cancer, he and I ended up having a 10-15 minute conversation (he had also suffered). He spent more time total in hospital but I had the longest single stay! Hahahah! Laughing about it with him was great. When I returned a few days later all my shoes had been upgraded from the relatively basic treatment I requested to the top of the line. I could tell, red soles, nice polish, etc. Free of charge. He wanted to give it all to me for free but I insisted on paying at least what we had initially agreed upon. He agreed. Such a great guy. He has my business for life.

Lovely repair! Nobody must've told the previous cobbler that EG Dovers are an extremely high-end Goodyear welted shoe... Glad they finally made it to someone whose skill matches the quality of this shoe! I think the dye job turned out really well too, keep it up!

This channel has gotten me so invested into the JR company even though I know nothing about shoe repair lol. Hearing that they aren't going under was the best news I've heard all month

Dan, brother you killed it on this one. I didn't quite understand the sanding of the sole but wow did it make for a beautiful finish. So clean, crisp, precise and just beautiful.

That hidden stitch trick is pretty cool. I would’ve never thought about doing that but now that you’ve done it it makes so much sense.. keep up the great work.

The hidden stitch is usually on the original EG sole... So glad to see he could take everything back to its original forms.

I haven't sadly had a quality pair of shoes in years, but working in Hospital we tend to wear cheap white cross trainers at my place due to the mess. You do to admirable work sir.

I always chuckle when you talk about the sundries. Reminds me of my Saturday job as a teen "this is like oil of olay for your shoes. Leaves the leather feeling silky smooth" Nice job.

I have no idea why i clicked on the first Video and how i even got it reconmendet but your vids are just a Joy to whatch!

It takes so much finicky work and time to do this. Few are able to develop the techniques and muscle memory to achieve this level of workmanship. He’s a true artist and among the last of a dying breed.

It’s very incredible and it’s satisfying watching you work. I see cobblers as part artist part craftsman. So nice to see this profession is still in practice.

Wow watching your videos makes me want to buy a nice pair of leather shoes. There's a soul to the shoes and if feels like you give them new life each time one gets repaired.

Wonderful content and great commentary. When I was about 55 years old a friend showed me I had been tying shoe laces incorrectly. I didn't even consider there was more than one way to tie laces. I noticed that you tied the laces with what is know as a "weak" knot, rather than the much better "strong" style. You can find demonstrations on KZread of course.

Damn, sewing on the new welt is not an easy job ! No wonder cheap shoes have the soles just glued on and that's all. Also - compressed cardboard on the initial heel, now that's something I'd not imagine a heel can be made of ! And we get to see the cork patty, yay ! Pat, pat ! And the sole trimming machine cutting that nice continous slice at work ! Also, good for you you'll still have the JR soles around, seems you really enjoy working with those.

Another professional creation by a man who enjoys his work and is a delight to watch. Thank you for your UTube offerrings that continue to enlighten us all on the need to respect those who work with their hands as well as their brains.
