Edison Motors Controversy : Global News

The controversy surrounding Edison Motors, as reported by Global News. Learn all about the ongoing government issues and stay informed on the latest developments.
Welcome back to our channel, everyone! In today's video, we dive deep into the ongoing controversy surrounding Edison Motors and a government grant. This isn't just local news anymore - Global News is covering it, and we're here to share our perspective.
The Spark of Optimism: We start with the initial excitement around B.C.'s Go-electric commercial vehicle pilot program, highlighting our groundbreaking work at Edison Motors - North America's first builders of a hybrid electric logging truck, and only Heavy Duty truck manufacturer in B.C.
Rejection and Confusion: The unexpected twist? Our grant application got rejected! For the only company solely focused on commercial heavy-duty electric trucks in B.C., this was a baffling setback.
The M.N.P. Proposal: We then unravel the peculiar offer from M.N.P., the well-known accounting firm. They proposed to assist with our grant applications for a hefty fee - 20% of the grant. Here's the catch: M.N.P. also administers grant programs. Red flags, anyone?
Is there a conflict of interest for companies who administer grand applications, to also administer grants? Should 20% of our carbon taxes be going to firms that do the paperwork to get the grants?
Uncovering the Conflict: We discuss our decision to bring these concerns to the legislature, leading to a governmental refusal to investigate, followed by a sudden change of heart due to new evidence.
A Heated Debate: Watch as the political drama unfolds with the N.D.P. and the Conservatives. Accusations fly, and calls for RCMP investigations are made.
Solidarity in Struggle: We're not the only ones affected. It's said that other companies have shared similar stories of rejection and an offer from M.N.P.
No End in Sight: The auditor's investigation is underway, but with no clear timeline, the controversy continues to simmer.
In this video, we lay out all the facts, voice our concerns, and ask the hard questions. It's a tale of hope, confusion, and a quest for fairness in the world of commercial vehicle electrification. Stay tuned as we keep you informed about every twist and turn in this ongoing saga.

This all happened within HOURS of deboss explaining edison motors showing how light duty pickup electrification could happen with a lower emissions tier cummins 2.8 diesel engine. You can imagine how much that can affect the big three who charge 14k+ for the diesel option at this point.

If they do it for less MNP would not profit from the effort "enough," clearly demonstrating a conflict of interest. This sort of corruption and laziness on the part of the government and government employees is just an echo of the ArriveCan/GC Strategies mismanagement and I'm afraid it's "just how we do business" in government when the actual employes don't have the skills or, could it be, have an opportunity for kickbacks?

This is so hilarious. Bush league. I wish i was working for a tax accounting firm again. Free money. Now, to be fair, the rules might be so messed up, because a bc gov't beaurocrat is involved. There should be questions about companies that both give grants and help applicant's write the grand request. And I suppose that the amount they charge for it would be a good indication of how proper they operate. As well as how many grants are granted that they didn't write themselves. Taking a 20% cut is just absurd and suspect. Especially when you first refuse their own application.

Testify! Same deal happened with me and the Digital Services Grant - it was a simple application but MNP came back with a $20k bill for "guidance and assistance" - it was all nonsense, just a corporate hustle to find a way to extract value out of clients. I was livid at such a blatant cash grab.

Is anyone else tired of people, and companies, saying "other people are doing it so what's the problem?" It's the type of excuse that admits the whole system is broken and no one is trying to fix it. Also, no matter how much internal division and conflict of interest training a company puts in place, nobody should be allowed to accept government contracts AND THEN put themselves into a potential conflict of interest.

It’s like the carbon tax rebates, the liberals say most get back more than they pay. Meaning people who actually spend a ton in carbon tax, those that live in the country. And those that don’t, live in a city. So the people that are self sufficient in the country (rural) have to pay for those who live in the city to get more in the rebate than they actually pay. That’s wealth distribution. How can someone in subsidized housing pay as much in carbon tax as a someone that must commute an hour each way with no public transportation? That must heat a single family home vs paying utilities in a small apartment. And no people won’t all of a sudden sell their houses and move to a city.

Thank you for reporting on what appears to be a flawed process where a grant administering company goes around soliciting their high priced grant writing services for the grants they are administering. MNP claims that this is done by other companies. If so, then they should all be stopped. Furthermore, I have lost all confidence in corporate claims that they have internal processes to avoid conflicts of interest.

damn good press for Edison. Keep up the pressure, let's get the entire country watching this company and get the support rolling at the federal level. If anyone deserves federal carbon tax money it's small business. Fed Libs already have enough kickback scandals in their 70 years of governing the 20th century. Just means more press for Edison.
