I would like to say that it doesn't take long (less than 2 years on mine) and the adhesive on the tape lets go.So if the edge is up inside a channel, that's not a big deal but if the edge isn't trapped inside a channel it IMO is then a problem as the open ends are exposed to airflow, insects dust etc.

I'm building a greenhouse with polycarbonate sheets. Would I be able to tape the edges and then adhere those taped edges with 100% silicone to keep it leakproof? Would I even need the tape if I'm planning to use the silicone? Thanks in advance!

Thanks a lot for this useful video. I am going to use the Polycarbonate Multiwall panels on a vertical wall application. Trying to understand the best way to seal the edges to prevent water seepage and insects etc

I'm considering using this product in a wall application with the tubes horizontal rather than vertical. What would be the appropriate sealing for the opening?

I'd say the upper part should be able to "breath", using the kind of tape the ladies use to seal the lower end. Water vapor rises!

This is my opinion also...I'm in the process of fitting my roof and I can't decide whether to fit breather tape on both ends?? Otherwise your going to get a build up of condensation as there is no airflow.... I'm unsure what to do?? They all say solid one end only🤔😩

  • @131277stefan

@@lukestone8592 the lower end being breathable means wet air can enter and condensate, leaving spots, in case the panels are cooler than outside air (at night). That's why solar panels (thermal) are best breathable only on top.

Hi, can you include a link (Amazon, Ebay, etc.) to the two types of tape used in the video? I'm having trouble finding a vented aluminum tape like you used for the sealing the bottom edge. Thanks!

What can I put on the one side where the panel meets the brick wall of the next door building besides silicone to seal it is there some kind of tape I can put over top where it meets The Brick?

  • @trevorjames5493

@@mariemariemarie94 I put silicone along the tiny gap between the side of the first sheet only on the left side where it meets the wall of the next door building then I used something I found on Kijiji for cheap called GAF weather watch leak barrier it's peel and stick for roofing it's around 3 feet wide the roll so I had to cut it to around 6 inches by the length I needed and put it on tight so 4 inch was on the wall and 2 inch on the sheet. It's black so you will see it but the wall is black and I painted the side cap of the sheet black so you don't notice it just looks like a small border but only really see it if you know it's there.. havnt had water come threw or trickle down the wall once yet and we had a few intense rainfalls this not so great summer in Ontario. Lots of wind too but so far so good. It's 90$ at home Depot but you get a huge roll 36" x 50' so I paid 40 on Kijiji for almost full roll. Cut my 6inch by 12 feet and one for backup then re sold the remaining roll for 55 online. Can show photos if you wish. I only needed to do the one wall so it wasn't too hard but if you had multiple spots it still seams doable worked for me so far fingers crossed lol :)

Escape not excape. Stand behind the sheet for more visibility. A better mic or fixing audio in editing would also help. I would prioritize these over synchronizing your voices. Hope this helps.
