I've quoted him so many times over the years.... my friends are sure I am him, especially now, with the hair.. Then they noticed him running...... and yep. How to tell us apart hahaha. BUNCH OF FLOWERSSSSS.. I'm 46, watched him since 1990 ish? Had 3 box sets. One was to replace loaned out one, never again. But well worth it. Live at the Ambassador's.... Creased. Seen him live twice in his comedy shows... and once in the play, The Life and Death of Joe Egg. Had a 5 minute convo about childbirth and labour... so funny. Legend.

It's a pretty sound bet, that if you're meeting someone new, and you find out they love this guy..... it is, a pretty sound bet indeed, that I will like them, and they won't turn into a tosser like most. OMG! i can't believe i've never heard of this guy until last week. absolutely hilarious!!!

Repeatedly watching Eddie Izzard's DRESSED TO KILL got me through a terrible bout with chicken pox a few yeasr ago. He's great, and it's the expressions on his face as much as the words coming out of his mouth.

Classic stuff -- trek fans (like me) love this stuff! Incredible! "Set phasers on 'limp'" That's hilarious!

Holy hell that transporter gag had me laughing so hard it hurt!

I love watching those old star trek episodes, the effects and some of the aliens and monsters are hilarious. Everytime captain kirk has a fight with some creature his top always gets torn in the same place, and it's to show what a brave hero he is. Eddie gets it spot on about the clipboards and the backgrounds when they beam down. They are mostly just some rocks and the same coloured background. Also, the one or two men who get beamed down in different coloured tops always seem to get it. It happens in every episode. You would think they should just beam down the main characters, or at least have the other men wear the same colour tops. Love it.

Oh wow that was absolutely fantabulous! I had to pause it to catch my breath. The most memorable: the machine that went widdly-we and the settings of the ice cream truck nearby, sudden interest in botany and depression. Thank you so much for positing this.

The last setting is my mom! Everytime we get in the car check, twice that we got everything, pull to the end of the block and "Did I leave the oven on?" It might vary with the heater and the window. But she bakes a lot, so it's usually the oven.

This is probably the best sketch of his I've seen so far (IMO) :D And I know I read a comment below saying 'don't watch trek it sucks, watch stargate', well I happen to be a fan of both, they both have their moments of brilliance :)

No, he is a comedian. He is simply doing what he does best, and he is bloody good at. I love star trek, always have, and everything he said was true and bloody hilarious!!

My son watches this show 'Star Trek' and in it there is Chekhov who is Russian, Scotty who is Scottish, Uhura who is Black, and Sulu who is Chinese, but no Arabs. My son is very upset and doesn't understand why there aren't any Iranians, Syrians, or Iraqis on "Star Trek." I told him ''It's because it takes place in the future.

The thing about all the Star Trek universe that confused me was the apparent 24/7 routine of the central characters. In TOS, for instance, the chain of command was: Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Sulu, Ohura, Chekov (Note: McCoy could remove any member - including the captain - from duty, for medical or psychological reasons, but could not normally take command.) Including McCoy, all 7 of those people were on shift at the same time. To those reading this, I'm sure you can figure out where the rest of this would be heading...

Chris... Holy fuck! It just an observation. Lighten up and appreciate the opportunity to answer a Star Trek question ... as I never once said I was a geek or in love with Star Trek. I merely stated a matter of confusion. Typical of being a Star Trek geek, you should be very happy a woman cared enough to even create a post about Star Trek, muchless make a statement that implies a question. As for the Izzard's humor: 1. It's long been known that there is a lot of truth in a joke. 2. Given this, a comedian's jokes are often an opinion, observation or interpretation of reality. 3. Jokes are subjective, not all of them land in comical fashion. 4. I am lightened up and would readily laugh, if I found his material funny. 5. As I said, in the previous paragraph, perhaps you should take your own advice and lighten up - How often does a Star Trek geek ever get the chance to interact with an attractive woman - much less have that woman mention Star Trek? 6. What do you do about it? You try to alienate her! I'm no Sheldon Cooper. I'm a redhead version of Penny. You are obviously a real life version of Howard Wolowitz.

Star Fleet has a standard 6 hour duty shift as well as in Earth jobs. People no longer have to work 8 hours or more since the workers revolution that changed that. 6 hours equals full time.

The main crew on the ship would show up at 8 in the morning then after 6 hours be replaced by a second crew with the captain passing the con to a higher ranking officer, not Spock because he's off too but another lieutenant. There are 430 service men and women on the ship each having a rank.

For information: Kirk and Scotty were played by Canadian actors. Sulu, Japanese actor. Spock and Checkov, American with Russian parents. Bones and Uhura, American actors. A more interesting fact, Nichelle Nichols who played Uhura was going to quit early on in the series because she considered her role insignificant. She was persuaded to stay by Martin Luther King Jr. because she was a vitla role model for black women and children who watched the show. Eddie Izzard is just a very funny guy.
