He had to imagine he was pulling a car off his kids, and get that spike of adrenaline. After the lift. Eddie suffered temporary memory loss, loss of eyesight temporarily. And had bleeding from the brain. Eddie has the greatest static strength In all of human history, and yet he nearly died from this lift. The pressure on his spine nearly crushed it, and only by forcing himself to weigh 450 pounds, and supporting his spine with layers of fat and muscle, was he able to withstand it.

I think people forget that Eddie trained specifically for this for a year. It was his main goal. He put a massive bet on himself pulling the weight to "set himself up for life". No one is going to beat this unless one of the elite guys make it their absolute goal and go after it for a year or two. There are maybe 5 guys on the planet right now who could possibly do this, but I just don't see it happening. I think someone will one day beat it, but not for a while.

Hall never went over 460 in training. Not ever. So take Thors heaviest lift ever, add 2 plates, and lift it. He can't do it. Hall will hold his record for at least 15 years. And no one will blow it up. Beating it by 1kg....is stupid. Beat it by the amount Eddie beat the old one.

I personally don't believe it'll be beaten this year, but I think we all know, and Eddie himself has said, he knows there's people out there with the potential to do 501. What I find even more amazing, but also slightly silly, is that he's said he may even think about training up to rebreak if someone does pull 501KG in the next few years..... unbelievable.

Thor's best lifts are on the whippy elephant bar. NOT the same. Thor's best lift on standard DL bar is 460. Eddie did 464 in 2015 with no suit. No one has beaten that suitless lift yet to my knowledge. There's a reason that no one else - even with all the knowledge on nutrition, training, mental training, steroids, growth hormone, insulin, CNS sparking, DL suits, knee wraps etc - has come close (even using cheaty whippy bars). That reason is cos they won't pay the price. For three years Eddie put his body through more stress than any strongman is history. I believe no one in history has ever been statically stronger than Eddie was in 2016/17. He would have won WSM 2016 if it wasnt for the hand injury he picked up. The intensity of training the single mindedness for three years to dedicate 24/7 to achieving a goal....and then the consequences of the lift itself - a brain injury and temporary collapse of the CNS. Those are the costs, the sacrifices. They won't make em. People talk like someone else is just gonna do it soon. They might....but I doubt it. It could be years before it's done again. Decades before we see it done suitless.
