I use those fire sticks for camping and for the fire pit at the house. Youonly need one inch to light three logs. They create a really hot flame for about 5 min.

The Havalon Knives are very good for their designed purpose, cleaning and skinning animals. It's a surgical scalpel that lasts through many uses before changing out blades. Love mine.

they price match print ads too for other stores. we got a couple guns there on black Friday and one was cheaper at academy but rather than wading through the crowds at multiple stores we were able to get the price matched at cabelas!

I love those fire starters. The little magic I use camping several times. I haven’t tried them whhen they are wet but I did use them when the wood was all wet and it did start the fire easily.

I have a Cabelas in my town and have been wanting to go and visit, I will now I also want to buy a lot of what you showed. I have really gotten into mulitytools and we also have a leather-man in my area. I have fallen in love with that store. It is like a large candy store for me. Cabels has a mulitytool that only they have so into that store I go. Thanks for the visit.

Coghlan fire sticks really are water proof and you can light them directly out of water. Even after they are submerged for a while. You can quarter each stick for use in humid brush or you can use 1 stick for very wet brush/wood. Light weight and very useful. Comes in a reseal bag. Too heavy still? Keep 4-6 on you and it is still better than most alternatives for cheap. edit: The Zippo axe will crack really easy, as will the other plastic junk saw/axe combo's. Keep in mind that the plastic and metal axe/hatchets will have huge vibration by default. Wood is best and you can cut the excess. In short metal/plastic/hard rubber = pain when using. You should try something more simple like this suggestion: UST paracord skeleton hatchet. Yeah it sucks. But it's for branches and small stuff. Plus really light. Then another really light useful tool is the Boreal21 folding saw. Your basic wood cutting hack saw. Weight 1.7lbs(seriously? yeah!) Replace blades with any 21" off the shelf. Self tension. super easy to lug and can cut any branch or tree with a depth of around 6-8 inches, if assuming you don't go around it. Just 1 side!

I have one as well it is a great knife and good for working on animals for anything besides that I find the blade breaks easy if you put any side pressure on it I found that outdoor edge makes a changeable blade knife that is just as sharp but much thicker steak at the end that you can actually fo wood work and other things much easier

I was at the cabelas near me with my dad while he was picking up a Glock, we went over to the background check area and I was wandering around waiting for him to get done, and I looked over at the gun counter, and the salesmen who was helping was telling a coworker that he was helping us. But he pointed over to us by using the pistol, if anyone has seen the show band of brothers, he did what Sobel did in the forest. I will never go back to that store, especially to THAT store in Dundee Michigan.

Dude, a Havalon is just a scalpel blade. If you want to know how long blades last, buy a cheap scalpel blade and handle for a couple dollars and use it. It's a folding scalpel.... that's it! They're more for delicate work because scalpel blades are thin and brittle. So don't try to cut between joints (like de-boning) or do anything where there may be stress on the blade because it'll break.

Havalon Knives are great knives but not for personal use or EDC. They are really designed as a field dressing knife that can always stay sharp. I have used them guiding in Alaska to cape out sheep as well as white tail back home. I would highly recommend them as a hunting product vs an EDC product just because you probably don't want to have to deal with replacing blades on an EDC knife. Great video by the way, sorry for the late view and comments. Enjoyed watching!

I guess I'm old school military. Cabelas would be an awesome place to shop , however there are cheaper ways to build a bug out bag without all the high prices. And you also have to keep in mind the fact that you will be humping this pack whenever you need it. Water fire and shelter should be your main focus when putting together a bag. Yes you will need other items but keeping it simple and at a manageable weight should factor in to. Good ideas though.

the havalon knives are extremely great for cleaning your game. Pretty much best way to describe the blade is a surgical knife. The Havalon knives are more about convenience. When you're cleaning game, etc., and time is of the essence you can just toss the dull blade and start fresh with a razor sharp blade. I'm old school though and sharpen all my own blades. There's no excuse to not be that way. I keep a work sharp carbide sharpener on me at all times and all it takes is a few light strokes on each side of a blade to bring it right back to razor sharpness.

I've used a havalon... one blade lasted me a while. Skinned 3 hogs in a single night without issue

@@DropForgedSurvival haha! The blade was pretty trashed on that third hog. I hit bone a lot. The skinning was my main purpose with that knife. We usually use clippers for the main quartering and joint removal

Fun to look and see but their pricing tends to run way to high. If you are going to buy something best make sure you get it on a sale (which brings the price down to what you normally can find at other stores).

    I. love fire starters. you light them with cigarette. lighter, get it started and then hold it to leaves or sticks and get them started. Fire in 5 minutes, even snow or rain.

I like the havalon knives, but obviously blades aren't as strong. Great for Skinning. I do prefer my outdoor edge razer pro for big game, it also uses replaceable blades, but for small game and trapping I like the havalon piranta.

DropForgedSurvival this is a bit old but I have the EDC version which just has the pocket clip, and I use it daily for work and outdoor. I've had it for about 2 months and I stretched it and just replaced my first blade.
