I always thought the same thing... regardless of the others in their lives, they were always the love of each other's lives and hearts. One of the truest love stories not just as celebrities but in the everyday world. They didn't just love each other, they genuinely adored and cherished each other. I write poetry and I feel like writing one about those two and having someone else take it and make a song out of... What'd special dedication that would be... to and for them both.

I thought it was because of his drug use and also that he wouldn’t stop smoking - even after he got oral cancer and lost part of his tongue. I adored them as a couple.

They were so in love in the 80's they literally couldn't stop kissing and smiling at each other! They reminded me a lot of how couples were back then --- the 80's seemed to be about wanting to be in love and celebrate being in love, you can hear it in the songs and see it in the movies of that decade. These days, I see young couples walking down the street and they barely hold hands, and never kiss or smile at each other and share laughs. It's really sad what this world has become --- but I'm just glad I was a teen in the 80's and saw the good times, and I really thank the super talented Eddie Van Halen for providing the soundtrack to my life back then. RIP, King Edward --- the King of Ten Fingers and Six Strings!

She also used drugs and drank a lot. It is documented and i think in her book she says so. Let’s view it as this: they met in a not typical way, fell in love instantly, their souls connected forever, spent ages together through the good and very rough and bad times(which were many!), had a unique and great son that is an excellent human being and very intelligent, talented, polite, social, calm and educated, shared their life, talent and wealth, visited sick or less fortunate people(including schools, hospitals and fellow musicians), contributed to society, left a legacy and more. I have always followed their many stories, ups & downs and all, but what many of us fail to grasp, realize or admit is that actually and in a biiiiig, great part of life’s equation and balance…drugs(including alcohol, which is also a drug) literally destroyed them. The amount of constant alcohol and smokes eddie consumed since he was young(he said so himself) is ASTONISHING. Few humans can survive that input and he did, it cost him health, physically, part of his tongue, teeth(read sammy’s book and look at that era’s videos), mental anguish, many bad decisions, some not so great moments, strained the marriage… He really was addicted to many bad things(all documented, i’m not making stuff up), also his brother(i met him here in puerto rico, all of them, except eddie because he was too drunk. Sammy himself said to me to not bother and save my time because he was gone. And i have 2 witnesses) they even had a wing at the betty ford clinic for them. That is on a whole other level. The stupid and useless drugs and the constant use and abuse just took it’s toll on their unique and beautiful relation. He admired her, what she did, who she was and who she stood for, talent, her roots and origin, her smarts, beauty, wit, humor, family, her whole package and story. And he adored her and was his queen, put her on a pedestal, they were a perfect match. But…drugs. Damned drug abuse. Facts.

There is only one other couple in Music who seemed to love each other and belong together as much as Val and Eddie-- Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley. You could just see the love on their faces and in their body language and in their smiles that they smiled for no one else. I don't understand why both couples split. Lots of pressure, problems, it's a rough lifestyle. Still, so glad that they found and had that real deep love connection with someone. That kind of love is hard to find for anyone, but for people whose musical careers are their lives, it seems like it would be even harder.

Real Love doesn't lie, and when a man is really IN LOVE, he can't hide his happiness. You can see it in his smile! Her prescence appears to have lit him up, and it showed on his face. At least in the beginning, it looked that way. I think she was his muse and inspired him in his music. I love both of them! I feel sorry for Valerie! She had a love so great that she can never find another! I lost my husband 11 years ago. People ask me about dating, and my answer is this “sure, do you know where I can find another Frank?” I can’t imagine being with another man besides my husband! We got married at 18, right of high school, and he passed away after 47 years, 10 months of marriage (almost 48 years) and I still love him as much today than when we got married! I am still married in my mind!! I am a single 76 year old woman who cries almost every day when I think of him! Sorry to get so sappy, but the Lord gets me through!

She was and is gorgeous! I saw Van Halen live in Rockford, Illinois in 1986 on the "Live without a Net" tour. BTO opened for them. After BTO got done playing I walked around the arena while the sets were changed. I walked just next to the sound booth as Valerie was walking up into it. I was about 6 ft. away from her. I had a crush on her from her days on "One Day at a Time". Seeing her right there was awesome. She was stunning in that 80's hair and makeup! It was one of the best concerts I've ever seen, and I've seen many over the years. I feel very fortunate to have been there that night.

And of course being a teenager growing up in the '80s Eddie Van Halen was a god to me. I worked out a lot had long blonde hair like David Lee Roth and try like hell to play guitar. But never got anywhere lol. Anyhow just ironic how one of the most beautiful women that admire growing up and one of my rock heroes got married. I cannot tell you how much I miss those days. His passing hurt like a family member or a friends you grew up with. He was there when i got my heart broke for the first time. He was there when my wife said yes, and there when my kids were born. He was introduced and beloved by both my sons and has made an impression on our lives that will never be forgotten. Valerie being his wife made us all feel a closeness to her as well. I will look for him in my afterlife, and hope to listen to his phenomenal talent with my lord and savior Jesus Christ. I say this because i know in my heart his talent was devine. Always wondered if the Roman people who were alive during the fall of their empire were aware of it, and now I think I have the answer lol I bought a modified '73 black Impala for a $1,000 when I turned 16. And when I say modified, one of its features was rerouted windshield washer lines into the dash so you could fill the reservoir with your favorite beverage, if you know what I mean. Oh yeah, and that kick ass Jensen sound system. Definitely not a lot of great music out there, you really have to go look for it. I really like Radiohead, but they're more 90s/early 2000s, and I like acts like The Shins, Beach House, Sufjan Stevens, Damien Jurado, and Tame Impala, but their music is heavily 60s-70s inspired. I remember my payments were just over $80 a month. Last July, I bought a 2022 dodge Ram, fully loaded..6 cylinder turbo, after taxes it was just over $49k The hemi was going for $62 I didn’t want the hemi, my dodge that I traded in was a hemi and with gas prices I wanted to turn it down a notch. Oh, and payments are $535 a month lease… Big difference from the 70’s. Like you said, I’m glad I grew up and did my high school years in the late 70’s. Carefree, and no hate!! Yes Jensen speakers, I remember then well and of course, don’t forget the eq’s we’d hook up separately to get more sound. Music in the 90’s and 2000s were good, breaking Benjamin, shine down, Pearl Jam, sound garden, three days Grace… good music. GOD this is an AMAZING tribute to Eddie! I didn't realize how much he cared about people and his family and I think David Lee Roth gas lighted him a LOT to promote himself even though both are amazingly talented musicians.... VAN HALEN IS MY RIDE OR DIE BAND!

The 80s were a Romantic Era. The clothes, hair, movies, and music. It was a great time to be young and in love. I was in love so many times in the 80s, and loved back. I would listen to Love Walks In, because a guy that I dated, who moonlighted as a DJ would play it as soon as I walked in to where he was playing. I miss those years so much.
