I originally subscribed because of generator opinions, and stayed because City Prepping is much more level headed than other similar people.
I’ve been living offgrid for 8 years. I’ve been designing and installing offgrid solar PV systems for 15 and you can’t beat a full system. If you need portability for camping etc these solar generators are awesome. I see people that are “peppers” and lots of prepping channels however promoting these and saying that’s what they have for their backup power for when the SHTF. That’s not the best solution for sure. A permanently installed offgrid system with separate components (inverter, charge controller, separate batteries etc) is by far better. Custom sized and built for the customers needs and lifestyle. If one component fails you can easily replace it. Yes it’s more expensive but I know a fellow that paid close to $9000 for a Bluetti with extra battery pack and had 600W of solar or something. We just installed a full system for him and it rocks. The solar generator system he had wasn’t “cutting the mustard”.

What do you think about the Hysolis Apollo Solar Generator. Plug and play 5 thousand dollar system for someone who wants to run 2 thousand watts of power 8 hours a day, in a sunny location? And that person wants to take it to events and such for electricity? I definitely would like to hear your opinion.

I recently followed City Prepper's DIY solar guide from last year and put together an Amazon list. Today you can get a 2000w inverter system, (2) 100ah LiFePo4 [200ah or 2400wh], (4) 100w panels, including all the tools, wires, and extras for under $2k
The one glaring issue that EcoFlow can’t answer (I asked) is we know how the battery cycle life is but how long will it run with no further software updates.

So pretty much anyone with a you tube channel that talks about prepping just got a free generator. Or solar channel.
Great content Thank you
Perhaps I I missed it, but does it have an automatic restart in the event it dies from battery drain overnight and can it restart automatically after solar input comes back on line the next day which is critical for stand alone off grid use. Previous units could not auto restart.
Sorry, but I don't see a link to the power use calculator. thanks
I notice that you don’t have the Zendure Superbase V listed in the calculator. Any plans on adding it or did I miss the listing?
Remember one thing. The price is high because you are paying for portability. If you build you own system, you would save thousands. But I understand a lot of people are not hands on. You need to understand something with the gas generator. It will charge the EcoFlow. But… if the demand is higher on the ecoflow, then what’s the generator is putting out. You won’t be charging anything, just slowing down the discharge.

Thank you for the amazing review, sir.
A lot of preppers on KZread debate on which generators, solar panels, batteries, etc are the best choice for a grid down situation. They also frequently talk about EMP's, either from a nuclear blast high in the atmosphere or from a mass ejection from the sun and whether it will wipe out all electronics along with the electric grid. Why not do a few videos on non-electric off grid solutions - and not just ones that feature camp stoves for cooking or wood stoves for heating? How about things for laundry like the Lehman's Own Hand Wash Laundry device, or different types of hand pumps that can be added to your well like the Waterbuck hand powered well pump? Everyone should build resiliency into their homestead, but one level of preparedness should be totally non-electric just in case your backup generator and solar PV system fails.
Thank you. I’m widow 74 need gen for stocked freezer. This may be over kill but love the brand ❣️I need plug/play cause I know zero on watts etc 😂😁
I said this in another video, but I feel like it bares repeating: I think the only thing they can really improve on with these units is giving the extra batteries more functionality in some manner. Like, instead of having JUST a port to connect to the main unit, let other extra batteries connect to each other so you don't lose a port on the main unit. Maybe allow for DC ONLY on the extra battery so you can charge the battery off of solar or a DC source and then the user can bring the extra battery to the main unit in night so it's allowed to continue to power everything without interruption or long power cables. Other than that (and price!), I can't really thing of anything they can do to improve these units without new battery technology involved in some manner.
Do you have thoughts on the Smart Gen 4000 integration with the DP2? I've got two Delta Pro 2's and thinking about getting a dual fuel generator. The newest is obviously better, but does it integrate backwards?
I would love one!
Looks great but very hard to ignore the price. I can buy a really nice top quality portable inverter gas generator that also gets me "unlimited" power (although I need to buy fuel) for around $2500. If I want to save then a cheap non-inverter generator costs well under $1,000 and also gets the job done. For the small amount of time I expect the power to actually be out one of these much cheaper options just seems like the way to go. I care about the environment but running a small gas generator for maybe 40-80 hours per year at most doesn't seem like it's going to move the environmental needle.
Kris - how does the DP3 compare to the DPU? I already own the DPU with the Smart Panel 2. So far, I can see that the DP3 can also hook up to the Smart Panel 2 but can't I just purchase additional batteries for the Ultra? Are the specs better for the DP3?
Just wondering if it's possible to connect two EcoFlow Powerstream units to a single Delta pro 3 unit? Thanks!
I also have another question the new 4000dual fual generator, I saw it connects to one of the expansion batterie ports, can the the generator charge the ultra 3 if it has a spare expansion battery attached to the other port as well?
Do you know who makes the engine in the new generator? Was looking to get a magnetic dip stick. In box if you prefer. Thanks
I have the original Delta Pro and it's great!

I’ve been waiting for a battery like this. I have a small home and have a generator panel and 240v generator outlet. This battery is cheaper than a generac lng generator. This would be enough to run my fridge, sump punps , and the lights. My panel does everything but the stove and washer and dryer.
@Robnord1
6 күн бұрын
Enough to run fridge, sump pumps , and the lights? Yes, but realistically for how long. Remember, solar is not always going to produce, and items like refer and pumps are critical pieces of equipment. First you need a real generator, then a inverter/power bank to back it up at times you want to rest the generator.
Been looking for a unit…thoughts on best for fridge and some ancillary power for lights and maybe a small space heater in winter?
@Robnord1
6 күн бұрын
Resistive loads such as a heater are not inverter/solar charged battery bank friendly. Yes, you can plug them in to it, but the power draw and rate of battery discharge is hard on batteries, and sucks them down fast. Generators (NOT battery bank/inverter combos) are best suited to long term resistive loads. This is not what so called solar 'generator' sellers want you to hear, but it is truth.
Good video. I have owned two Delta Pros w/ two extra batteries for one yr and am very happy with them and Ecoflow's tech and reliability. I am considering upgrading to the Delta Pro 3. However, one thing stays in the back of my mind - bying a product produced in China and with the CCP's control of private companies within China and this unit's connections w the internet for updates, is there a chance of the CCP's intervention and bricking these units in the event of an armed conflict between the US and China. With China cornering the market on Lithium battery manufacturing and technology, the number of US manufacturers is extremely limited. Any thoughts?
so you could theoretically charge it from a large 48v battery bank using both of the solar inputs at the same time.
will the smart generator4000 charge the delta pro ultra ?

@Robnord1
6 күн бұрын
Resistive loads like your range are best matched to a real generator, not a battery bank+inverter like the EcoFlow. Will it run the range? Yes. Will it trash your batteries early if used like this routinely? Probably. Will EcoFlow admit that? Maybe.
Others seem to have reported a 93-95% efficiency, not 83%, after testing.
@Robnord1

Then they are probably liars. Conversion of DC to AC and vice versa has numerous sources of loss, and figures in the mid 90's are to assumed to be exaggerated and not trusted.

I’m researching a to hard wire the DP3, extra battery (maybe2) and use of the Smart Generator 4000 to my RV for extreme off grid applications. A Victron styled Rv setup would be $16k plus and permanent to the Rv. I contacted Ecoflow asking for help on what extra components needed to complete such a setup. Such as automatic or manual transfer switch. I would like to keep my 600ah LiFePo Rv batteries separate with 200 watt panel dedicated to them and 800 watts dedicated to DP3 . They blew me off. As a small cleaning company owner, I have long sought to integrate high-performance 240V steam cleaners and vacuums from Europe into our operations. Typically, our cleaning sessions in residential homes do not exceed more than 3 hours and 15 minutes. Can the EcoFlow Delta Pro 3 effectively meet these operational needs?

No, only for certain loads in that house. You need either to gain more knowledge on load calculations and power availabilities of these units (and do your own 'worksheet'), or hire a consultant to calculate your exact needs for you based on your input. Some electricians can do the calculations you want. EcoFlow can too, but their answers WILL be from a seller's perspective.
