City Prepping

City Prepping

This channel's goal is to help everyday people learn the basics of survival in times of crisis. With over 80% of Americans living in an Urban/Suburban environment, many lack the basics to ensure they have the necessary food, water, medical skills, and security in the event of a catastrophe. City Prepping's chief aim is to help provide survival basics for everyday people that are practical and easy to implement to be prepared should calamity strike.

The author of the channel spent his childhood in the outdoors learning practical skills in Boy Scouts, earned a degree in MicroBiology from UT Austin, has spent time with non-profits and NGOs working in nations such as Afghanistan and in impoverished areas of Mexico, and currently works in the tech industry. Living in Southern California under the threat of "the big one" (earthquake), the need to learn how to prepare for a very catastrophic event has led Kris to spend many hours studying and preparing his own household.

You’re rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. Either climate change or nuclear war will extinguish all humans. Go ahead and waste your time “prepping” but it’s fruitless.

This seems to be a great option for backup power. My biggest concern is power enough to run decent sized air conditioner. Living in a hot part of the country I would really like to know more. This video does very briefly mention a 3 ton unit. My home currently has to have 3 central air conditioners. None unfortunately as small as 3 tons. I would like to support at least one unit to cover the bedroom and bathroom. I would really like to see more focus on the power and time can be expected from a power unit.

Interesting. Ukraine needs ammo and yet Zelensky just bought two yachts. CP doesn’t talk about nukes and EMPs much because his solar generator affiliates will be the first to die when the EMPs come. Funny how that works.

I don’t think it will I think We have entered a new era of globalisation and profiteering. Food, housing, bills will continue to climb evermore. As companies manipulate the markets for their own means. The affluent classes those who own multiple properties and in shares will see their wealth grow like never before. The poor will become extremely poor with no end in sight. The only thing that will stop this capitalist freight train is social unrest. This will likely never happen as people are so dumbed down, they have no fight left within I live in Australia and are now seeing the formation of a two tiered society the Have and Have Nots

We have had to help our grown kids a lot. One daughter, her husband, and 3 children moved into our guest house in 2022 and are trying to save up money to buy a house, but it is hard. My husband and I are both retired, and have the ability to be mostly self sufficient on our 3 acres. We just about never eat out, nor go on vacations. Thankfully we have zero debt of any kind. Credit card interest rates are killing people's finances. I don't know what is going to happen when the bulk of society declared bankruptcy at the same time.

I've kept my mental health going by stepping away from a lot of prepper content over May. While it's good for getting prepared, much of the content around why we prep is rough and demoralizing. Instead, I focused on self-sufficiency regarding my garden and how to adjust to problems if/when they pop up in my home. For example, I have a small chest freezer with all our meat in my garage. I live in Southern CA. Our summers are HOT, and I know I'm putting more pressure on this freezer by keeping it in my garage. I put a plan together to ensure I can save my meat if the freezer goes out by having enough canning supplies to pressure can my freezer contents if it fails/takes too long to receive a new one. We are also considering removing one of our raised beds and putting a chicken coop there for eggs and possibly meat.

Simple spending more than you earn. No rocket science here. You need to look at what you're spending your money on. Credit cards, worse things. How many lottery tickets did you buy this week. Was the Starbucks/dunking coffee needed every morning? Why can't you make one at home. I see this every day at work. Folks who make a decent living but are broke because of poor spending choices. One individual, brand new truck, but property taxes in areas. The list goes on. Inflation yes, but, you fail to adapt. Your fault.
