Echidna devised a test for Beatrice and it's been 400 yrs and Beatrice hasn't been able to pass it. Beatrice was created by Echidna but she did whatever Echidna wanted and lives for her orders, the reason Beatrice is locked up is a test to beatrice and her own "Person Hood" you could say. Before parting, Echina left her treasure of wisdom aka "The Library " which contain the rarest books on the world under the care of Beatrice. Beatrice asked what to do and Echidna told her to wait for a "Destined" person so that she may hand over the library and go along with the person. However Beatrice took things literally and has been waiting for someone to show up saying "Hi, I'm that person ". Echidna wanted to assess Beatrice rationale, she was curious who would Beatrice deem worthy of the knowledge she left to Beatrice and at the same time would prove Beatrice can take decisions outside of what Echidna says. Beatrice just has to pick someone, anyone really and she be out of the library. The reason she helps Subaru is becuase her Book of Wisdom has gone silent, shes been unable to see the future for quite a while and often freaks out whether she has ruined the future for which a destined person shows up to get her out of the library The Book being silent is a Clue in and out of itself since Beatrice has locked herself out of a future becuase she has to pick, but Beatrice firmly believe that a person will show up and tell her "Hi, I'm that person". Throughout the years many have visited her for different reasons and she has refused them all, saying that since they dont tell her "I'm that person" they probably aren't. Rosswaal is aware of Beatrice misunderstanding and it is why he told Subaru what to tell her.

Yeah not gonna lie unlike most people in season 1, I rank Emilia over Rem & believe Emilia would eventually got character development & shine as main character while Rem would be stepped aside to more of a supporting character like Ram...hence Emilia is the icon of ReZero.... So far I was wrong about Emilia lol, I share the same view of her with Echida as she's too dependant on Subaru (while we know how much he suffer). Right about Rem & tired of this Emilia or Rem debate....I'm team Echidna now 😁
