Been over 80kph on the flat with an X1 so 50mph is very doable. Definitely fast enough to get you in some serious trouble. You really want to watch those smaller gears. With this generation of motors the thermal throttling is supposed to be better. Therefore when you are seeing reduced power what you are seeing is the motor getting hot and the controller reducing power to keep the heat down. With the earlier ones it is totally possible to wreck them with long climbs. You want to use the big gear and let the motor spin fast and do the work. Cool bike! Well done.

Good advice ive used a few bafangs and all have burned out in a single speed bike its better if you use a large cog at the back im on a 22 wheel and 34 @ crank it's better for the motor to let spin but this thing is ridiculously priced in the uk im seeing £1400 a lot for a cyc motor cyc will never see my money. ive got a lot of experience making ebikes, motorbikes and doing my first car now all factory bought mid drive motors like bafang and other brands have failed on me x times if i buy a dc motor and make a bracket myself those motors have never failed even when pumpung ridiculous amps through them on a motorbike build id never spend £1400 on a cyc my friends cyc gets left in the dust by my alibaba special that cost £270 we used my batt and controller for the test it wasnt even close the thing just isnt good enough and is just to expensive for what it can do

Very cool build, great work! I have a CYC Stealth kit, with a 72v 21aH triangle battery. I find as a general rule that for full power trottle runs the middle of the cassette gives the best results for speed (about 40mph in my case) this seems to let the motor spin faster and less strain on the drive train. The smaller cogs work better when on pedal assist, where you can pedal for miles at 20-25 mph at assist level 3-4 on a 40T chain ring. Bigger chain ring = lower pedal cadence for a given speed, smaller chain ring = easier climbing and acceleration, but 40T maybe the best as an all rounder. Look forward to your further vidoes on this bike 👍👍

Oh my gosh! Well I guess I know what I got to look forward to. I bought a CYC Pro Gen 3, box kit with I think a 52 tooth chain ring and a 72v 60ah triangle battery. It's going on a 2007 Trek Fuel EX 9.5 Carbon everything bike. Weight is like 25lbs. I weigh like 240lbs. I'm betting I can get it to 50mph. This video had me gritting my teeth. Hahaha! This is more than enough power. Glad I bought the 3000w and not the 5000w. I work on a military base where I was thinking they could form an ebike brigade for the post police using this motor. On the whole post the biggest speed limit is only 40mph. Can you imagine the police pulling up next to you or keeping up with you for going 50mph in a 40mph speed zone while on a bike? Makes me laugh when I think about it. Good job brother on the build. This was a great video. Nerves of steel. Love your channel.

You should shift to those higher gears from lower gears as starting in the higher gears puts strain on motor, chain and cassette etc. . Bafang BBSHD'S like to maintain high RPM (revolutions per minute) so your CYC would work similar. Check your software in controller that there is probably a limit setting or not.

  • @baconbuttties

My gearing on this bike goes up to 52 teeth so the gears in the middle of the cassette are not that small compared to the usual 7 speed freewheels , but I understand what you mean and i usually have it in a larger cog. The CYC software is set to max 62mph

Well I'm guessing your heart rate was way up there on those runs ... well done on the build and great video showing just how quick that bike is now. So close to the 50mph but no cigar this time. I'm pretty sure it'll do it but do you really need to go that fast anyway... lol... As Bruno would say "POWER" - I would like to see you not just go to level 5 and take off from standing... far better to start in level 1 and as you get going increase the levels ... also get used to reducing power to level 1 as you come to a stop... you'll get used to that very quickly and it'll save you snapping the old chain by accident... Once again love the video's looking forward to the hill climb.

At night, on a lonely country road, going at a speed I can't admit, a raccoon ran in front of me from the shoulder, I steered away, locked up the brakes and the skidding tires made a sickening growling noise. Luckily the bike stayed upright and I missed the terrified critter by a hair. That experience taught me a lesson. Although its fun to go fast, slow down; it's safer for wild life and you.

Eventually got it right after posting that, and it worked for three months. It died at a stop light. Took off the motor core cover and there was ash / dust caked in between the copper coils. The copper coils also looked a little burnt, the color had changed from original to a red-brown. Reseller was totaly unresponsive until I copied CYC technical support on the emails. New motor core should arrive tomorrow. Long story short, almost seven months since order and it worked for three. Always include CYC in any email correspondence involving the warranty.

The torque output of electric motors tends to be rather mor uniform over a rpm range than that od internal combustion engines, you may be able to find a graph of torque to rpm for the cyc motor. Weight has a considerable effct when going uphill but on the flat the main limiting factor on top speed will certainly be 'wind resistance', (aerodynamic drag). The motor will have an optimum rpm at which torque is at it's maximum so selecting the gear that causes this to coincide with the top speed that you are aiming at will give you the best chance of achieving that speed.

We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. kzread.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

@@moa-wg3bo I cannot recommend the pro or any of the CYC line. It has a lot of issues and their tech support does not answer tech support requests in a timely manner. It is a product that is sold like it is 100% tested and the best on the market; however, that is not the case. When they do answer tech support questions I get answers like it is because you are using a apple phone and not an android phone even though they advertise it works on an apple phone. I could go into great detail on all the issues I have had with this product but that would take way too long to list. If you do have issues and it is with the product like I did it took 3 months to get replacment parts and during that time I could not use the product. I will say It is powerful but it is unpredictable. Not something I would trust on a mountain bike trail were if something when wrong I would get seriously hurt. Bottom line is once you purchase it you cannot return it.

I can only spend abought $2800 on the bike, other than the hills I live on, what would be a good bike to go to and from work and some pleasure riding, there are so many brands out there so I obviously don't want to get ripped on a no name brand.

I weigh 245lbs and I'm 6ft. Go and find you either an older steel bike or an older carbon bike. Don't buy an aluminum bike as it likely cannot handle the torgue of the CYC motor. That's what I'm doing. You want a bike that has true V tubes that go into the bottom bracket so you can fold the motor up for clearance on the down tube. Most of the older bikes were built this way. My 2007 Trek Fuel ex 9.5 MTB is an all carbon bike. Even the wheels are carbon fiber. I paid $650. The chain, derailleur, chain ring and cassette kit, 3000w motor and 72v battery was around $2300. If you got a 52w battery and compatible controller and paid a little less than I did for the bike you would be within your budget. I got lucky and found a full suspension bike for a great price. I plan on upgrading the brakes, shocks and fork components later to newer stuff. Nothing wrong with the bike, it just has older components, but work really well. But I'm probably going to get a new paint job for my bike since it has a few paint chips, but once I'm done I'll have a $5000 to $6000 bike for about $4500. This motor changes everything about ebiking. Not that I need to go 50mph or more, but it's there if I need it to get away from dogs or if I'm in a field with tough terrain and on a hill, I have the torgue to get out fairly easy. Best part is it's open source and it's not a proprietary ebike system. I bought the motor, drive train kit, and battery from Electrify Bike Co here in the U. S. Just bought the motor two days ago and got the shipping notice today that my motor and drive kit are on the way. Great customer service. If you talk to Adam tell him I told you about them. I didn't shop around too many places, because I wanted to get my order in while they still had the motor in stock. It might be a little cheaper if you shop around, but I don't know if other places sell the Box Two-E 9S Prime 9 Drive-train bundle.

Build a bike with a Bafang BBSHD motor which is an extremely reliable and powerful mid-drive motor although a powerful rear hub drive bike is normally best if you’re riding mostly roads as opposed to trails and more off-road use.
