It was an awful, awful year. This 2022 Summer has been a wonderful La Nina for the southern parts of Australia (not so nice for northern Australia with flooding). Only a few spot fires in South Australia so far. It's a huge relief. NSW and Victoria had vast areas of bush/scrub and houses destroyed in 2019, the smoke blew over to SA and it was really bad for everyones health due to the air quality 😔.

Can you digest liquids by mouth, or is there basically full gastroparesis? I once knew a girl who had gastroparesis, but she could eat very soft things such as pancakes, as long as she could "drain" them into a bag through a feeding tube.

@@BigGrabowski Unfortunately, I can’t. I can eat and drink, but since I only have about 50cm of small intestine connected (I have a stoma at that level) I cannot absorb anything. Paradoxically, the more I eat or drink, the more fluids I’m losing, since gastric fluids are produced with every bite or sip, which also just end up in a bag. I therefore have to be careful because my kidneys need enough fluids. The intravenous food makes me feel full most of the time, but cravings are a different thing. So, when I’m invited or plan a nice evening meal out, I’ll reduce my calories over night drastically, in order to have an appetite the next day.

The great thing about soup is that, as a term, "soup" is only slightly more specific than "food." It's right up there with sandwiches as an endlessly customizable, always delicious option. You could eat it every day for a month and never have the same meal twice. Anybody who says they've gotten tired of soup has just run out of ideas. Migas are basically scrambled eggs with corn tortillas mixed in, and usually some eggs/tomatoes. I love having them in a flour tortilla because you get the best of both tortillas, but they’re also just great by themselves!

Ooh, do you like eggs? Steamed egg custard is pretty easy on the stomach and there's a microwave version out there, too. Or different rice porridges? My favorite is ochazuke which you can make at home by pouring hot tea over leftover cooked rice (recommend oolong, barley, roasted rice) and adding a bit of dashi powder and furikake. There's also instant packets available, too. Or roasted squash of some kind? My favorite is kabocha pumpkin and sweet potato. I like eating them plain with a spoon right in their skin.

By the way, did you know that kaboche skin is edible (and delicious!), and that it is particularly good if you cook it in the oven, or sauté it. Not all Winter squash skins are edible, but kaboche is one of the ones that is.

So many similarities! Essentially eggs, tomatoes, carb (bread/pastry/rice/noodle), meat, dairy product, fruit, coffee. It’s funny, I live in Austin Texas and sometimes eat my lunch at the picnic tables at Pease park lol my breakfast is usually just tea, breakfast tacos here are kinda bouigie and overpriced (and even though Austin tried to claim the title for best breakfast taco San Antonio right next door has better cheaper and more authentic Tex Mex breakfast tacos lol ive lived many years in both cities) Also why does the end make me cry? Lol

Very interesting video, thank you! 👍 Though I must say "bundáskenyér" is not exactly how it looks. It origins from Hungary. It is made of dry leftover bread which are soaked in beaten eggs until they are totally saturated. You season the eggs with salt and pepper. You fry them in hot oil and they will develop a nice coat of fried egg all over them. You will not see the bread itself. That is why they are called "bundás kenyér", which translates to "furcoat bread" - resembling to that the bread has a coat on itself. I like to grate cheese on it while it is hot and the cheese melts on it. 😊👋
