Easy upgrade- SV650 Windscreen from Skidmarx

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I often get asked about easy mods for motorbikes, well I think a windscreen with just 4 bolts is about as easy as it gets!!
The team at Skidmarx gave me one of their windscreens to try and I have to say I was impressed. It fits really well, is made from tough material and looks fantastic!!! They do lots of parts for SV650 bikes, as well as lots of other models, including fairings, crash protectors, engine covers and levers. The website is worth checking out!

The link to the windscreen used in this video;

**Edit** I call the black rubber attachments 'wing nuts'... I meant to say 'well nuts'
As always I welcome your comments, I hope you drop me a message and let me know if you decide to go for the same windscreen (they do come in 13 different colours!) or if you have any ideas for future videos you would like to see.
Thanks for watching and please subscribe to get alerts of new videos as they launch!

    Just to say, this channel has been an absolute lifeline for me. Got an SV650 last year, and have learned so much so quickly from this channel. Always loved using Haynes manuals growing up, but so much quicker and easier to have someone (Tamsen) show you exactly what to do rather than that read a description with a few black and white grainy images, while jumping back and forth between sections like crazy!

    That is an awesome looking bike!! I love the SV's, I wish they would bring back the S model like you have!! It looks great with that full fairing you put on.

    Got my first bike 6 months ago and it is the same SV model. "Lucky" me the dealer and the previous owner had the bike sitting next to the sea probably for ages. It's not in its' best shape (and sound) and just started having major issues with the electronics. I've decided that it's time for me to grab the tools, put lots of time into reading the manual and search the vastness of the internet for lovely people like you who help all us rest by giving information and tutorials. I'm planning on doing all mechanical and electrical maintenance/repairs (hopefully it will fit to go through and out in the garden) myself so that i also gain some knowledge. Fingers crossed! Thank you for putting your videos out there and like the rest of the people say, would love to see some more videos of you riding!

    Just replaced the windscreen on my 03 SV1000s and was trying to force the old rubber bits back in which turned out to be futile. Got some new ones on the way from Amazon now. Your videos are well made and a great resource, thanks.

    Hi tamsen, good to see you've still got your mk1 sv650s. Mine is still part of my collection. How much do you reckon you've spent on the refurbishment work to date? Or don't you keep count?

  • @TamsenCooper

    Oh heck, now there is a question. I would say significantly more than my other half thinks I have spent lol! The thing is, you can rack up some serious money very quickly! Every time I work on a section, I tend to replace the bolt with stainless steel or titanium, rubber parts get replaced, so a lot of it you can't really see until you look at it closely! I don't have an actual £note number, think it would be safer if I didn't sit down and work it all out too! Thanks for watching.

    Hi again hope your well? Seem to be having a issue with my gen1. It seems to be coughing and miss firing when standing still. Sometimes does cut out. I have also noticed now I’m using the lights more they seem to be flickering and dash lights also. Any help much appreciated

  • @TamsenCooper

    @TamsenCooper

    Hey, not sure if you have got this sorted by now, if so I would love to hear what work was needed. It sounds like potentially 2 separate problems, the coughing and misfiring could mean the jets of the carburettor need cleaning (mine was the same), or if it had old fuel in that can go funny after 6 months. You can also adjust the idle speed of the bike, although I don't think that would cause the coughing symptom. The lights seems like more of an electrical problem. Keen to hear from you.

    I'm buying one of these, at least I'm looking for one; an SV650 K1 that is, not a screen. Anyone know what's a fair price for a 2002k1 with 23000 otc?

    Dear Tamsen Cooper, I've noticed that the last video here is about a year ago but i still wanted to give this comment a shot since it looks like you know alot about these motorcycles! I've been having an issue with backfiring. On deceleration my SV650 from 2001 heavily pops and backfires. I've read on different forums that I am able to solve this problem by adjusting the pilot screw to change the air/fuel mixture. Is there any way you can help me with this problem? I know u probably won't read this comment but I need some help :') Thanks in advance, love your video's! Greetings!

    Just a couple of things, Tamsen.......the rubber nuts are called 'Wellnuts' not wingnuts - and they should be fitted to the screen only, and not through the front of the fairing. Then the screen is secured to the fairing using the 5mm bolts through the holes at the front. :)

  • @TamsenCooper

    Yeah, I have realised my mistake now! I have put an edit in the video description! Sometimes I get a bit nervous when in front of the camera and I just slipped up. I am happy with the way the well nuts were fitted though, it was the reverse of the way it was taken apart and ensures the screen is secure.
