🔸 Ingredients:
1 lb top sirloin (you can also use flank steak)
1 lb broccoli florets
2-3 tbsp canola or vegetable oil, divided
Spicy Sauce:
1 tbsp ginger
1 tbsp chopped/pressed garlic (about 2 cloves)
¼ cup water
¼ cup soy sauce
3 tbsp of spicy Hatch Hot Honey (Fresh Chile Co.) (freshchileco.com/products/hat...)
2 tbsp sesame oil
2 tbsp cornstarch
Black pepper to taste
🔸 Instructions:
Place 1 lb of top sirloin in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes. This will make slicing it much easier. While the steak is in the freezer, you can start preparing the rice. Start by rinsing 1 cup of basmati rice until the water runs almost clear. Then add the rice to a medium saucepan and toast the rice just until the water evaporates and you begin to smell to toastiness. Now add 2 cups of water and bring it up to a boil. Let it boil for about 1 ½ minutes, then cover and turn the heat down to low to cook for about 20-30 minutes.
To prepare the sauce, add all of the ingredients to a bowl, whisk to combine and set it aside.
After you remove the steak from the freezer, slice the beef into ¼ inch slices using a sharp knife - I am using my new Nakano Knife (nakano-knives.com/). Set the meat aside. Cook the broccoli while the meat is in the freezer to save time.
Add 1 ½ tbsp oil to a large saute pan on medium to high heat. Cook the broccoli florets adding in ¼ cup water after a minute or two, then cover and cook for about 5 minutes. Remove the broccoli from the pan and set aside. Next add the other half of the oil to the pan and cook the sliced beef until just cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Now add the sauce mix into the pan and cook until the sauce thickens slightly. Now add the broccoli back to the pan, cover and turn the heat to low and let it set for another 5 minutes. Serve with rice, or angel hair noodles. Enjoy!
