How do you set it so that on subsequent runs, it only looks up the newly added files and skips previously scraped games? Is it even possible?

Why do all these handhelds always mess up the names on the FC roms? is there an easier way to mass rename them, or do I just have to do them one by one?

i noticed on my miyoo mini sd card it came with mame and mame2003plus and mame2010. they all have games in the folders. but on scraper i only see mame ARCADE. what do i do in this situation?

In that case you might need to point Skraper to each rom folder separately and scrape them individually.

The info in the video is super clear and great but holy crud man, that affected "dweeb" voice is awful. It makes trying to follow infuriating. I get that it's the whole schtick and all that but oof...

I do EXACTLY what you do, and yet this screws up my whole sd card. An example of a problem is that I cant go into any thing like themes, or apps or games, nothing. Also ive tried using the scraper on the mini + itselfs and it says the pngs are unreadable. Im kinda done with this ngl. PLEASE HELP!!!

Are you on Onion OS? If so then something went wrong, either the images aren't the right size (250px wide for Onion), or they're the wrong name, or the directory name isn't correct, or something like that. I just re-did the scraping on my Mini + last night and it's working fine for me.

When you add a new game to your rom library after scraping, does the box art show up or do you have to repeat the process for new roms?

Needs to be repeated, but it should detect the games you've already scraped and only scrap the ones that don't have art.

Hi. Nice video. My images were all scraped into the romsroot folder /Imgs. But I´ve read, that the images need to be in like romsroot/FC/Imgs. Is this right? How can I now move alle images to their right place? :O

Thank you for this video... Thankfully my anbernic rg351v has skraper in it with the anberelec firmware and has wifi on it. But my miyoo mini v2 with onion os (4.04) doesn't Edit: doing this now 45 minutes just for my gba library looks like only one engine is up at the moment. Already got my sfc/snes done wasn't much there just my childhood favorites gb and gbc should be similar

Can this be done in MiniUI? I have followed all the steps, I have all the files in the appropriate folders but none of the boxart appears.

You COULD go through the update process, the problem is that you'd have to do each update along the way. Honestly the easiest way would be to do a fresh install with the latest OnionOS. Backup your save games and settings (you can just backup your entire retroarch folder), and then start fresh. Wipe the card or use a new card, and install the latest version of Onion. You won't need to update to the latest firmware if you've already done that step, the installation of Onion won't brick your device, you're safe. When you are done updating you can just copy over your games and your saves and configs or whatever. I suppose I could make a video on the topic. I just might.

Appreciate it, I browsed all KZread and there are no video's showing the update process for current onion users, that'd be a good video for sure, I'm not super tech savy and I watching your videos really helped me put onion os and skrape box art to my miyoo mini thanks again. They've made a few products, notably the Bittboy and the Pocket Go. They didn't brand themselves as Miyoo back then but it's the same company.

Is it possible once you have scrapped everything to change the FC icon name on the mini interface to nes without messing the system up?

I think so. The icon naming shouldn't affect the rom directory, in theory.

What about the meta data? I would love to have that in here as well. I see a section on Scraper for it. I'm also not sure if OnionOS even supports that yet. Any ideas? Also I've really enjoyed what I've watched so far.

Onion OS doesn't support metadata yet. That's mostly for like those set top boxes like Android boxes etc

Great tutorial! Thank you so much! Quick question. As the program is doing its thing, how can I pause it and will it continue where I left off the next day? Also, I'm using the free version so I get to do 20,000 requests a day. If I donate to their Patreon in the middle of it doing its thing, will my requests jump to 50,000 as its working or no? If not, then how do I exit and continue where I left off later on?

Glad it was helpful! As to your question - That I'm not sure about. I would assume that if you get access on your account to the 50k files that it won't boot you out or give you errors once you reach 20k, but I can't say for sure. And I would also assume that if you pause it and then continue it the next day that it will pick up where it left off but again I'm not entirely sure. It's been awhile since I did the patreon thing but if I recall correctly you don't immediately get access to the 50K files, there are some steps you have to go through, but I can't quite recall what they are. I'm sure the info is on their website or patreon page for that. Sorry I can't be more help, but make sure you come back here and let us know how it worked out if you go that route!

@@TechDweeb Well I found out donating does not increase the limit right away. I scraped up to my limit of 20,000 and went to bed and when I woke up the system said I have reached my quota of 20,000 for the day, so I'm hoping when it resets to the next day their time (in an hour), it will say I can do 50,000 scrapes since I donated to the Patreon. But at any rate, what it has scraped so far looks amazing on the Miyoo Mini! I went for the 3D Box Art and it looks really good when scrolling through the various titles. I agree that the way you did it with a screenshot would be more useful, I just like seeing the game covers more so.

Great tutorial btw! Only thing is that the scraping process is extremely slow, taking over 32 hours (estimated). Will upgrading my account speed this up (free account ATM), or is this just a slow process?

Hard to say. I don't think the account type has an impact on the speed, but the number of files you can scrape in a day. It really just comes down to how many roms you're doing at once. Also that estimate may change, usually when I scrape the estimate goes up or down throughout the process. If you're doing thousands and thousands of roms at once you might want to break it into smaller chunks, just do a few systems at once for instance. Of course if you don't mind waiting 32h, then no harm in just letting it do its thing!

Any suggestions for the height and width of the 4 image mix? any help would be grateful brother!

Depends which device you're scraping for. If you can't figure that out you could pick a generic size (like 250px wide) and scrape just a few images and see how they look and then adjust as needed.

I'm trying to get my images to fit the open space on the right of the screen but not take up the whole screen. I'm currently using koriki 1.3 as the software. Like last night I used the 250 by 350 but that takes up the whole screen on the miyoo mini and every time you scroll to another game your roms list disappears...

Is this tutorial also for mac? This scraper app is also on mac?

Does Onion OS 4 fixed the small thumbnails?

I'm sure I'm speaking for a lot of people that are new to scraping and have realized how amazingly cool it adds to the overall experience but was wondering if you can do a tutorial on scraping for Scummvm files on Mini? I've been able to scrape every single system except for Scummvm games. This would be a big help if you know how. Thanks

A brief googling of your problem makes me think you need to add the .scummvm files with the right codenames. That'd be the first thing to check. Other than that, not sure what to suggest, sorry :/

Call me crazy, but I can't get the screen scraper website in english. I can change the region, but english is not an optional language to pick from.

It has to be something to do with your scraping settings. Make sure your directories are set to the proper image file locations. Try just doing one system at a time, that might help you narrow it down.

its recommended to use 128gb cards, but exfat can take up to 2tb, but once youre over 512 youll need to use bigger blocks and waste more space but using 256 lets you get most roms you legally obtained by legal means( for every system besides the CD/video based games literally every game but those bc theyre huge), a good 130ish psx CMDs since you own all 131 and 1 wasnt backed up (oh darn) with enough space left over for box art PLUS a good chunk of GB for any future ports or homebrew kinda things like the sm64 port

Just please clarify the people that if you run it in the background, you won't be able to tell at all the how far it is in the process. I kept thinking that the scraper on onion wasn't working. Until I finally turned off the option to let it run in the background. Once I turn that option off, I could see it running real time and it really improved my overall experience.

With the 480p screen combined with the size, power, & durability, I was looking forward to it but not in a hurry because I have plenty of handhelds already. @@TechDweeb Hey, I have a question for you -just want to know your opinion. What makes the Miyoo Mini better than the Ambernic RG300X? Is it just the Onion OS firmware for the Mini as opposed to the Adam firmware for the RG300X? I really don't understand what made the Mini be so much more successful over the 300X. I prefer the horizontal form factor of the 300X but it also seems at least equal in size and power (if not marginally better) than the Mini. Is that original 'Gameboy' form factor really that big of a deal? To me it's just a PITA because it's so cramped.

@@TechDweeb Yh do basically the old one has 1900 mAh Polly lithium battery while the new one has 2000. I think the new one also has a slightly better screen. What I wanted to know is how's the performance for the 1st gen cause that's the one I ordered.

@@ibrahimanwar9822 If you have 1st version you should feel lucky. They redesigned the battery due to limited supply for 2nd version. Same with the screen. I personally don't like new battery, it's more hassle to take in and out if you need to. All of units from China now are 2nd version of Mini.
