@@andremalerba5281 I actually ordered mine from Amazon. A little more pricey than other places, but the guaruntee on the Mini in case it's not what I want or it's a "scam" is the reason why I purchased from there. It was a reputable seller with high reviews as well. It says it should arrive at my home October 16 and I only ordered last week. I figured it's probably somebody who gets them and resells, but Amazon will make sure I don't lose my money in case something goes wrong. Good luck. A lot of other places seem to be out of them right now.

Was also waiting for your report on it, as I had everything as I wanted in 3.1.2, and when going from 2.x to 3.0, it led me to a state with no resurrection, i.e. I had to reformat the card and start from scratch. Didn't want that to happen this time. I have to say: They've cleaned up the installation process quite a bit, and I've even ignored your reinstall instead of update hint, and it worked just fine. :) I'm a happy camper. Now of course waiting for my RG353VS. Hopefully you'll get your 3-5 days before I get mine, so I'll have all the info I'll need when it arrives.

Thanks for the tremendous update it became my fav emu handheld without comparing the power of the other devices. The lack of power is no longer a problem since all the features they added is the one that we're looking for this kind of emulation handheld. About travelling / going to another city for a few days (to work), I honestly think that also it's about ... systems. On SNES, NES, PC-Engine, MegaDrive you literally just start playing. One main screen, click new game and you're playing :) With newer systems, newer games, there usually: - an intro - one or more screens showing which studio did it (ea sport etc. :) ) - main menu, - some multiple screens : pick your name, select your car, select your engine, select track, select this, select that ;) - introduction of the game - video / beginning of the game / storytelling (sometimes you cannot skip it) - then some tutorials (because in the 80s / 90s you just learnt by playing, now / in the XXI millenium we don't do that ;) ) - and then, finally, after few minutes, you can start playing When I need to travel to another city, to work, I usually pick up my RG552. I realised that I play PC-Engine, SNES games the most. Maybe some PSP. For PS1 I started playing, but only when I found roms without all these intros etc. TL'DR - I'm not surprised that he didn't touch steam deck :P

Love this video, everything is amazingly thought out, i always wanted for someone to do this, if only handheld manufacturers would do the same for hardware as to use the better dpads, triggers and buttons with a nice screen and grips then it would be a dream come true to use both software & hardware. Im thinking something along these lines; handheld similar in size of a retroid pocket 3 with a better screen & grips like the logitec g cloud since everyone is praising those, hal triggers & sticks, ps vita style dpad but a bit larger & snes or psp size face buttons would give a handheld the most ergonomic/comfort you can get, pair that with the latest snapdragon apu, lastest android/onion os in dual boot and a decent battery even if the device has to be a bit thicker in depth it would be the ultimate pocketable handheld. I would gladly pay 300-400$ for something like that, that can play nearly everything up to ps2, gamecube & wii, plus android games & streaming from pc.

I want to point out one important thing in the button customization. If you're a person like me who uses in game button combos a lot for something like rewind. I've noticed it a good idea to set the long press behavior for the menu button to off as I've had it bring me back to the menu in the middle of a long rewind messing things up for me. Confusingly it didn't happen every time, but it happened enough times I had turned it off. It seemed to happen more when I would hit L then menu instead of menu then L but then there's the problem of not hitting L fast enough so you're trying to activate rewind and instead go to the menu losing everything.

  • @tonglianheng

    @tonglianheng

    Жыл бұрын

I concur. I have customized the menu button such that double press now exits to main menu. Since then I never had issues of not being able to press the R2 or L2 buttons fast enough. But I wish to correct that exiting to main menu does NOT cause you to lose the game. The game state will remain and you can go back to where you left off from the game switcher. It is a pain to get exited to the main menu when you don't want to, but you won't lose the game.

  • @chronossage

Cave Story is the father of all the modern indie game scene. It was the big indie metroidvania before Hollow Knight came along. Definitely one of the greatest games in history with a tight gameplay and a surprisingly touching and emotional story full of memorable characters. All these indie game tropes of being made by one guy who also made the soundtrack or telling a story darker and more emotional than what its characters and presentation would hint all started with Cave Story. Then came games like Yume Nikki, Off, iji, Braid, Castle Crashers, Limbo, Super Meat Boy, The Binding of Isaac, Bastion, VVVVVV and others

Cave Story is an incredible game indeed. Very underrated in my opinion, compared to other indie games like Super Meat Boy, Celeste, Undertale. Great platforming, great action with light rpg elements, great design, good story, AWESOME soundtrack, hidden upgrades, INTENSE boss fights. The fact that everything was made by just one developer (Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya): - Designing - Developing - Composing original soundtrack - Gameplay/Controls - Story in his free time over the course of 5 years, was given to the public for free and at this quality of work it is unheard of. For me it's a must if you are into indie games. Oh and that soundtrack... Like this if you are a fan, so that Russ finally will decide to give it a try :D

I recently installed onion is 4.03 . I feel is a good OS, but most of my fav games are on mame and to exit mame games you will need to use menu button plus select and have to go through retro arch menu kind of a bummer . I am wondering if it is just my setup? The default is works flawlessly when exiting mame games

If you're nuts (either paranoid or compulsive) about using savestates to revisit stages or events in your playthroughs (I personally used to be a big fan of stage select cheats back in the day), I'd recommend going into retroarch app, settings, saving, changing and turning off 2 things: Set "maximum auto-increment save states to keep" to "0" so the game won't erase previous save states after you reach max (max saves is 10 by default) and turning "increment save state index automatically" off entirely so you have total freedom on managing your save states. You only need to keep it in mind that you will have to move through states yourself with "menu+left/right". It is like this in 350Elec/AmberElec on Ambernic devices and it's really nice. I'm not much of a fan of retroarch for many reasons, but having more than 10 states to use is something most stand-alone emulators don't allow for.

I got a bit scared that I bricked mine in the update because it would show the boot screen then turn back off repeatedly but I guess the first time around it didn't properly extract everything from the update files for some odd reason. Dumped all the files back in a second time and it works great now, thanks for the video!

This screen plus clam shell design would be the perfect handheld to me...the powkiddy 90v was so close but not powerful enough and the screen isn't as good as the miyoo but the clam shell just makes it soooo easy to just pick up and put in your pocket as you leave.

I have both the Steam Deck and the Miyoo Mini. And I have to say, although the Steam Deck gets way more love when I am at home or during weekends when I spend time with my partner or visiting my mum. However, when I go on vacation, or just want to bring something on daily commutes by train/bus, I almost ALWAYS choose the Miyoo Mini over the Steam Deck. It's just a more pocket-friendly device. If I have the space to lug around the Steam Deck it definitely offers a sensational premium experience. But it is definitely not the perfect device for all occasions. The Miyoo Mini really does the trick of being small, pocketable and enjoyable. With OnionOS 4.03+ and the quick resume feature it is just such an amazing emulation device.

I really just want to use this for a media player(movie, video, and music player) and GB/GBA player. If they could trivialize that it would be great. Its the only thing from keeping me using it every day.

Hey, thanks fir your great Videos! I like them much and you do a really good content! Thanks! I am often on the road for work and appreciate the MiyooMini very much for its compactness. It's just a lot of fun to be able to play the old classics on the go at any time. It would be great if you could use the device as an mp3 player. Playing audio games for the kids on vacation, setting a sleep timer, etc... That should be no problem in terms of programming. Many greetings and keep up the good work!!!

Love this device. Mine is kaput though. Screen kept going black. Shaking it brought it back. Obviously bad cable ribbon. Had some buttons to install so I dismantled it. Now the screen doesn’t work at all. Rip

Yes I should have been more clear on that. Previously it was a feature that was often hidden behind another option, like the old console mode, so I’m just happy that it is now integrated into the general experience.

Having smaller hands, would i be able to use it for longer sessions, in the range of 1-3 hrs? If not what are some good options(no higher than $150)? With roughly the same amount of roms and an overall ready to use out of the box like w the miyoo mini. I guess it wouldnt have to have the roms if the one in the mini or similiar is sold by itself. In such a scenario, I'd go a tad over $150 but the cards price would still count toward my price limit.

Play cave story it’s literally my favorite game ever. Multiple endings. Choices matter. Excellent modding community. Give it a try when you can I do recommend playing the original version for pc or cs+ first as some ports are subpar.
