Ойындар

    About the colors and darkness. If you can nd haven't done so. Try to adjust your white balance and shutter speed or ISO settings. Mostly you can find these under manual settings. Lower ISO gets better image quality but you need a lot of light. The higher the ISO the brighter but can also add grain to the image. To find the right white balance I use an app called "Light meter". Put a white piece of paper at the point you want to film, point your phone with the light meter app on it at it and read what color temperature you have in the room. Something around 5400 kelvin maybe? Then put that number also in you camera. When done correctly you should get a pretty good result. The rest depends on the viewers monitor and room lightning and there is nothing you can do about that.

    This is tight! I've never been a Marik player but I really enjoy the look of this lance and might have to try it for myself some time.

    Thanks! Of all my contrast tutorials I feel like these ones turned out better than I had expected and I'm even thinking of painting some of my personal FWL units this way.

    It’s great to see the work you did for this scheme. I just started using contrast medium and it’s been an experience. Love what it can do for the contrasts.

    I'm so excited to try this. The first campaign I ran was with House Marik.

    That looks really good. At first i was kinda skeptical, because in the video (at least on my monitor) it looked more like gray than purple, but in the photos it looked really good.

    Yeah it's hard to video the darker shade in this case but the photos accurately represent the final appearance.

    Really need to nail down drybrushing someday is my biggest takeaway haha. Love it, purple basecoats are among my favorites and Shyish was a disappointment straight from the pot. Will have to get some medium.

    Shyish purple seems more of an undercoat to other colors, layering, or drybrushing and not really as "contrasty" as some of the other colors unless thinned with medium. Definitely give it a try, I wasn't sure it was going to work for me at first either.

    Impressive as always. I've resisted contrast painting because even though it seems like a easier way to bang out a bunch of nice-looking mechs quickly, it's yet another expensive set of paints from GW I don't really want to fork out the money for just after I got done amassing a couple hundred Vallejo, Army Painter, and Testors MMA paints. GW usually overpriced, too.

    Thanks and I agree that not having to buy paints you don't really need is important. I don't own any contrast paints that I didn't want to try and make work for BT, and my intent is that someone that wants to do a large force or batch paint will be willing to go buy one color and use it effectively, and not waste their time or money on something niche or gimmicky. Some of the contrast colors don't work nearly as well as others so I'm trying to point out the ones I think are most compliant and useful with these tutorials.

    I like Marik as a faction but their color choices are often eye-wateringly bad. Been mulling over how to get something that is easy to do and clearly purple without straying into the garish magentas and neon greens. This video really hit the spot.

    Could the entire arm be painted in the specific accent color instead of the line/paneling? Assuming, of course, another unit or faction doesn't use that paint scheme.

    They're your models to paint so you can do whatever you want that makes you happy. Battletech players tend to be much less picky about things like that.

    When you used the Zenithal technique on this model, did you use black then gray or light gray then white over that?

  • @CamoSpecsOnline

    @CamoSpecsOnline

    I did start with a black base, then used the Vallejo grey primer I showed in the video which is a light grey. You can bring it up more with a white if you're really trying to have more vibrant colors.

    Probably not any time soon since it's a combination of white and purple and I've got contrast tutorials on those individually already. The black would be the only color on the scheme I haven't done yet and I'm planning on one for that in the future.

    Is Contrast Medium the same thing as Lahmian Medium or something else?

  • @CamoSpecsOnline

    @CamoSpecsOnline

    3 жыл бұрын

    It’s similar but Lahmian is something I haven’t tried to thin contrast paint with. I’m sure it’s worth a try to see how it interacts if you’re considering it as an alternative to the technical medium.

    On what planet? Not all vegetation is the same size in the made up sci-fi setting this game takes place in. Plus, Cattail, Reed Grass, Pampas Grass...etc are all very tall.
