If you look down in the hole after you remove the primer bulb, you will see a screen that is removable. I have had those screens stopped up with dirt. Also, the reason that the primer doesn't work, is that the hole in the gasket is not lined up with the carb hole. Put the cover on and leave slightly loose. Get canned air with a straw or turn your compressor pressure very low. Blow air into the hole on the front of the primer bulb while moving the primer bracket. Once the two holes are lined up, you will see gas, tighten the bolts down. I have never had to install 2 gaskets or replace a bracket. It is almost always that the 2 holes are not aligned. For ease, I keep a can of canned air in my toolbox just for this reason. And yes, the whle can also be clogged like you said in the video.

I found out if you take a can of carb cleaner with a straw and stick it in the hole on the primer bulb and spray some in there, it might work. It fixed my issue lol, maybe it will work with someone else too

This helped me out to running condition 1st pull start for a friend of a friend who is very appreciative of you and your channel

Thanks for posting the video! I had cleaned my carburetor, put everything back together, and had no priming. That little channel was plugged with gunk. Easy fix!

Thanks for the video. I have to push the red primer bulb about 8 x then my Toro mower starts . It used to work after just 3 pushes.I will try this .

heat gun unwarping priming bulb cover worked for me. Prior gasket has broken into pieces likely aiding in the warpage. Pretty easy to diagnose with the cover mounted and pressing bulb with no fuel coming out of the brass tube (Need to confirm bulb is producing air pressure with soak bubble test first)

Just came across your video.. very informative.. I replaced the carb on my john deere ja62 and ran like a champ but wasn't priming.. haven't tried your glue gun technique yet but I was able to get it to prime by using my hand to push against the housing and put a little extra on the bolts and wallah its priming.. it might be a temporary fix and if it is I will heat it up and try your technique.. thank you for the video and just subscribed.. and by the way this is a horrible design😅

I used a cheap set of pliers and welded welding 1/8 rods to it and bent them to fit the release points Works, $3.00

On my 6.5 HP Briggs engine and aluminum carb, the bowl gasket was worn, bleeding air pressure needed to push gas into the tiny venturi. If Raley’s method does not make a squirt into the throat, consider replacing the bowl gasket.

Great show, the primer plastic vain you put soap in to see if it's working, does that lead to a jet hole on the carberetor at the end of the vain or valley, because mine doesn't so its going nowhere, what should it be doing please with the connection to the carb please

A friend was "Working" on his mower and then it wouldn't start. He didn't line up the hole in the gasket with the carb "tube". He asked me how he was supposed to "Know" that those need to be lined up... I had no words for him...

Great description of the issue and fix. Been a sub for a while and started making a similar channel trying to share any knowledge I have as well. Any advice you're willing to share for a newbie? Keep up the great work T-bone!

I have a 2008 toro recycler which I replaced the carb with the Chinese knock off. Starts on first pull, however if I shut off for more than 5 mins it won't start. Starts hot or cold , but not warm. Any ideas, a leaking cover gasket might be it? Or is there a choke thats messed up. No primer bulb its a toro 20066. It pulls easy, I heard there is a compression release, but cylinder wear is my concern. Advice?

These are very common, been around for years now.

I've had several Tecumseh. The plastic housing gets hot and warps. They can get pretty bad.

I use piece of 3/4 conduit for buld installation

My mower will start for a second on starting fuid but then stops. I put new gaskets, primer ball, cleaned and blew out the carb passages. No change, still will not run except to start on fluid but then dies. Briggs motor different carb that yours.

Even if different model most carbs have same jet set up

I tried all of this to the point of buying a new base and primer bulb. Still not getting gas to the carb. Starts and runs fine with a little squirt of gas in the carb . What else can I try? Thanks!

Sometimes I use 2 gaskets and soak them in oil, then wipe them off b4 installing.

"Slip it on my little tool"; that could be taken the wrong way!😂😂😂 I use an 18mm socket with no grinding.

The fuel line coming off the primer is missing I can't seem to find where to run it to fix the problem starts fine while putting fuel in carb until it runs out of fuel

Motor is a 2015 brigs 300e have a 450e with the same issue both set since new used only a few times guessing fuel lines rotted trying to get one going for my brother in law

Government crap they need to make them with choke cables again

primer bulbs suck npt blow if blowing hooked up wrong
