Easy Lentil Patties

Lentil patties or lentil fritters are a quick, easy, and tasty recipe you can make in less than 30 minutes.
They are satisfying and nutritious, rich in protein and fiber that will keep you healthy and satiated.
INGREDIENTS:
2 cans (15 oz each) (460 grams) lentils green, black, brown / sub 3 cups cooked lentils / or 1 cup dried boiled in 4 cups water and 1 teaspoon salt until tender.
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour or chickpea flour
¼ cup (8 grams) parsley chopped + 2 tablespoons cilantro optional
1 medium onion coarsely chopped
3 cloves garlic coarsely chopped
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
4 tablespoons nutritional yeast or grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon black pepper
4 wedges lemon
OVEN-BAKED: Arrange patties on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 400°F or 200°C for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
PAN-FRIED: Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a nonstick skillet for every 4 fritters. Fry fritters on medium heat for 4 minutes on each side, turning them once.
AIR-FRIED: Brush the air fryer basket with olive oil.
Arrange the patties in the basket, brush them with olive oil, and air fry at 400°F or 200°C for 10 minutes.

Instead of all purpose flour you can use chickpea flour it’ll become crispy healthier and yumm

Add some bread crumbs or a boiled potato to the batter. It will help to bind it better and add body to it.

Chick pea flour instead of all purpose flour will make this tastier, healthier, more protein rich. Add a boiled & mashed potato &/or bread crumbs. They will give body to the patties, will absorb less oil & become crispy. A few chopped spinach leaves thrown in would be a fine way to cheat kids into eating spinach. Make a delicious coriander leaves, ginger, garlic cloves (optional), non-spicy green chilly, cummin seeds, salt, lemon juice chutney. Add 2-3 mint leaves if available.😊 Tips from India.

Dal tikkis in North India are quite similar to what you made but we add no flours at all, lentils are cooked naturally. We have them with curd and chutneys❤

I believe this to be all the ingredients we need: Cooked lentils , flat leaf parsley , cilantro , ground cumin , ground coriander , salt , pepper , garlic , red onions and I believe he is saying nutritional yeast or parmesan. Dipping sauce is tahini😊... I hope this helps, although we don't have the amounts.

Quick no clean up is to cover a wide mouth mason jar lid and ring with plastic grocery bag and press the filling into the lid and ring and turn it out on parchment paper . The plastic peels away nicely no mess!

Avocado oil or coconut oil are frying oils. Olive oil used for frying can turn toxic. Olive oil is best used at no heat to low heat only.
Are they freezable? Great idea for breakfast sausage that I can use later.

You’re not supposed to fry things in olive oil but I will try this out using chickpea flour and grape seed or avocado oil

I don't cook lentils, I soak them and let them sprout.
I really like these recipes but he talks so fast that I have to replay it several times. Also, there's no written recipe of ingredients with amounts. I love other people's comments that help immensely! I'm going to be looking for chickpea flour. Thanks! 😊

Instead of tahini, to make this more delicious you can make a coriander & mint dip/chutney. Add washed coriander leaves, mint, salt, green chillies, little ginger and garlic to a blender and give a good blend. I can confidently say that once you taste this dip you will use it as dressing or dip for everything!
