EASY INDONESIAN NASI GORENG RECIPE | Better Than Gordon Ramsay Egg Fried Rice - Uncle Roger Approved

Ойын-сауық

Today we are making an easy Indonesian Nasi Goreng recipe as promised before. In Bahasa, this particular recipe is called Nasi Goreng Terasi With Petai. This recipe is using two of our favourite exotic Indonesian ingredients which are terasi (belacan/shrimp paste) and petai (stinky beans). As Indonesians, we are so proud of our nasi goreng (fried rice), it's considered as our national dish and this dish is loved by many people around the world.
The ingredients are quite easy to get (minus petai if you can't find petai) and cheap too! We hope you all can try this recipe at home and let us know if you have any questions regarding the recipe!

Two Hungry Diners
Recipe (makes 2-3 portions of fried rice)
===================
3 cloves of garlic
1 large love of shallots (or adjust accordingly, we love more ratio of shallots to the garlic)
2 red chillies
Small Piece of Terasi/Belacan
Cooked white rice (use long grain)
4 Eggs (2 eggs for scrambled, 2 eggs to make sunny side up)
Any protein you like (we use beef balls and fish balls)
Cooking oil (adjust accordingly)
Kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
Petai (stinky beans - you can skip this if you don't like it)
Salt and pepper to taste

What we added to the fried rice: - Acar (veg pickles) - Kerupuk (garlic crackers) - Fried shallot - Fried egg Acar recipe: Carrots + cucumbers + red onion diced. Add water + vinegar + sugar. The ratio of water, vinegar and sugar can vary depending on your liking. For us, we like 2:2:1, meaning the sugar used is less than water and vinegar. And finally we like to add a bit of salt too. For kerupuk, we bought it from Asian supermarket and just need to cook by deep frying them in the oil. Fried shallot, we also bought it from Asian supermarket. You can also make it yourself by deep frying sliced shallot but we can't be bothered doing that since the ready to use one is already available in the supermarket. Fried egg, very simple, everyone should be able to make fried egg :) Thanks for asking and your kind comment 😊

Probably not very authentic if using basmati, we usually just use normal long grain rice for fried rice 🙂

Lol we are not trying to make it entertaining. Just sharing our favourite Indonesian recipe made by Indonesians, loved by Indonesians and we can guarantee it's even more delicious than Gordon Ramsay's one. Not all ingredients he used are authentic ingredients to make typical Indonesian fried rice.
