Great video! At first I used a different lubricant and it didn’t work at all. Then I took your advice and used the exact type you used in the video. The noise was gone right away. Thank you!

This is the best video of the 4-5 I have watched by far! You can see hinges etc. up close. Only item you might add is to lubricate top of trolley railing. Friction is mainly on the top.

Hey Tightwad This is Cathy. My son understands that you said it is not always necessary to lubricate but you actually meant to say that it actually is always necessary to lubricate and lubricate means to make some quieter.

Listen up folks.. do not EVER spray any type of lubricant on your roller track. This will act as a magnet for dust dirt and debris build up and can end up transferring into the bearings as well if they aren't the sealed ones. So IF you want to tackle this maintenance and have a way to reach the upper overhead tracking via ladder or something safe or hire a person, just make sure they don't leave the tracks wet, just have them return in about a week and make a quick inspection and or wipe down the tracks again... but if you're D.I.Y.. Just use a small hand cloth or shop rags and clean the tracks with something like Brake cleaner or something less volatile if you prefer like Simple green or Awesome... something similar to it.. but just make sure the tracks are dry when you are done. Control lube your rollers and just wipe off the excess then after the Garage door has had a chance to cycle and sit for a few days or about a week, inspect it again and wipe off with dry rag. Just my personal experience with these because metal rollers tend to gunk up sooner.

What is better? lithium or silicone based? I've seen most use lithium, but does it matter?

Glad you pointed out the fact that WD-40 is not suitable for lubricating a garage door. Thank you for the helpful tip! I noticed that you didn't have an emergency cable attached to your garage door. We've had a few power failures over the years due to lightning striking power lines and other various reasons. The emergency cable has come in quite handy in these unfortunate events.

@Insignificant Speck Of Dust Yes, that's the red handle emergency release for being trapped INSIDE the garage when a power failure occurs. What I'm talking about is the long cable that goes from that hardware ring, where that red emergency cord is attached, to the garage door itself. A small 1" hole is created in the door and a keyed lock is inserted into that hole and the keyed lock has the long cable attached to it. When a power failure occurs, and you need to get to your car to go somewhere, you use the key for that keyed lock on the outside of the garage and remove the small lock and then pull on the cord from the outside that's attached to the hardware ring inside the garage.

WD-40 won’t hurt it. It’s just meant to be a cleaner and moisture remover and not a lubricant.

I have been running a garage door business for 20yrs. That is the product that I have always used. Great choice man! I would definitely recommend the Genie Screw drive lube for screw drive garage door openers and bicycle chain lube for chain drive openers. I don’t recommend spraying the track....if you have to spray the track...that means there may be something wrong with your door. You can also buy nylon coated 10 ball bearing rollers to quite your door.

Will the silicone spray dry in a while, so it won't drip on my car? Another KZreadr suggests that a white lithium spray would dry quickly, and not drip. Is the silicone spray comparable?

My garage door is only making noise when I close it. I push the button and after 3 seconds, it makes a high pitched groan which lasts for 1 or 2 seconds. This is after doing what’s in the video with Blaster. I don’t know what part needs fixing 😩

It sounds like a roller is getting stuck. Watch the rollers as it closes and see if one drags instead of spinning.
