In this video tutorial, I will show you how to make a beautiful and easy gift for Mother’s Day. These flower pots are made using terra cotta pots and saucers that are painted with chalk paint and decoupaged with floral paper napkins.
Not only is this an easy gift to make, but it’s very inexpensive and they don’t take a lot of time. You can actually skip the painting step, if you prefer the terra cotta look.
I used chalk paint, and it only took one coat, and I let that dry completely. Then, I used floral paper napkins that I found at Dollar Tree, but you can use any patterned napkins that you like. I cut out some of the flowers, and then I used some Mod Podge and a foam paint brush to glue the flowers to the pot.
After you get all of the flowers exactly where you want them, paint over the napkin with another coat of the Mod Podge and let that dry completely. You can then use a fine grit sand paper and lightly sand some of the edges of the pot, to give it an aged look.
The final step is to spray the entire pot with some Rust-oleum clear coat to protect the paint and the napkin from water and dirt.
