Meanwhile countries like USA, Russia and others have only one majority language spoken by the population there are others which speak more than 3! That's really amazing. Congrats people from Namibia!

I admire the fact that in most of sub-saharian African countries they speak at least 2 languages even in cities. Here in Latin America native languages are spoken just for few people and basically there are no ways to learn them. Yes, most of our Latin American countries have 10, 30, ... even 100 indigenous languages but in most of places it's extremely difficult to find somebody who speaks at least one of those languages and there is a lack of resources to learn them

I love Afrikaans because my father and I speak German and Afrikaans at home Why Afrikaans and English because my grandfather said, in order to have respect you have to use your mother tongue but also use a second language e.g. Afrikaans for the working world in Namibia and South Africa my grandparents spoke Afrikaans and German

+ Saxon Warrior You have to learn to be tolerant, that is number 1! I was born and I grew up in Namibia and now I am a senior citizen. Ok, my mother’s parents came to Namibia after WW1, my grandfather hated to be a soldier. He became a farmer. My father came to Namibia after WW 2. They all came from Germany. I was never raised to hate anybody. The gradual moving away from apartheid started already in the early 1970’s. I was shocked when I came to Cape Town in 1975 to see that there were 2 entrances at the post office. One for black people and one for white people. I was not used to that at all. Our change happened very gradually, and I think that was very good. People could get used to new ways and ideas very gradually. On top of it all most of my countrymen and women are peaceful and not fighters.

At school we once had Namibian students coming to our school and we were able to communicate speaking Dutch and them Afrikaans and use English if we didn't understand eachother but for the most part it is pretty easy to understand eachother. It did help that my best friend his sister has a South African husband though who I talked with a ton so I had alot of practice 😂. Also interesting to hear them speak in their native language but I forgot which language that was but not all the students spoke it. Some only spoke Afrikaans.

My gunsteling tale is Duits, Nederlands en Afrikaans. Hierdie drie tale is Wes-Germaanse tale.
