EASY CROCHET: DIY Scrunchie // BEGINNER TUTORIAL!
Supplies:
Yarn: amzn.to/31hsWqK
Crochet Hook: amzn.to/32fW1ED
Scissors: amzn.to/2pnaorS
Hair Tie: amzn.to/2Be7KY8
Directions:
1. Create a slip knot and place it on your hook.
2. Place the hook through the center of your hair tie with the working yarn on the outside, yo and pull the yarn through to the front.
3. YO and pull through both loops on your hook.
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 around hair tie until you have as many stitches as will fit. The more stitches the more ruffly and full your scrunchie will be!
5. Sl st to join your first round of single crochet stitches.
6. Ch 2
7. DC three times into each single crochet stitch around then Sl st to join.
8. Ch 1
9. SC through each double crochet stitch around, then Sl st to join. Cut yarn leaving about 5″ and weave in ends.
For thinner yarn, I definitely recommend doing the above pattern.
For chunkier yarn do 1 row of TC all around, Sl st to join, tie off and weave in ends.
Faux fur yarn: I did one row of DC around, Sl st to join, tie it off and weave in ends.

Crocheted for a while but wanted to learn how to actually do/make something.
Thank you so much! I am 12 years old and I just made my first crochet project because of you! Mine took six hours but I'm so proud of myself. Thanks so much for making my dreams come true.
Finally! Something that's ACTUALLY beginner friendly!
I loved the tutorial & idea, they turned out beautiful. The only thing I wish was different was that you showed them in someone's hair.
I love that you guys hold your hooks differently
I'm a knitting person and I couldn't figure out crochet for the life of me, this tutorial was literally the perfect beginner's project and now I have the cutest scrunchie, I can't wait to make a dozen more

I absolutely love that you have included your daughter in this tutorial! Also love that she is crocheting as well! Keep crafting sweetheart it is an amazing talent to have!!!
This is adorable. I have a granddaughter about your daughters age and I wanted to make her scrunchie. I’ve been crocheting for over 40 years but I always look for beginner, friendly tutorials. Thank you so much I loved it.
Used to crochet a ton of these for my daughters and their friends when they were younger. Now I make them for my granddaughter. Like someone else stated, great for stash busters that are not enough to make another project with.

I love how your daughter is in the tutorial as well! It's really encouraging for me and I'm sure other younger kids who are learning to crochet that younger people can do it too. :)

Love the cat!! He settled down and fell asleep. I have Tuxedo cats too. They are really the best!
I even prefer these to sewn ones...SO EASY......SO CUTE!!!!!
I made my first scrunchie in about 30 minutes and it turned out beautiful! You’re an excellent teacher! Thanks for the tutorial🙂
We boys also appreciate this kind of work. I'll never be as good as you are, but it doesn't matter. I like to see the industriousness of your most skilled hands. How much satisfaction you must have ... 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
What an awesome tutorial. It was so sweet seeing you and your daughter crafting together. I love the ending with your mascot Jax posing.
Loved this tutorial! My daughter has started wanting more scrunchies and now I can just make them!
Thanks Katie and Erica for the tutorial on Scrunchie's. Easy and Fun!

I have made a million of these, I learned with this tutorial. thank you! I have left a comment on this video before, and that was around 2 years ago. Since then, I've gotten better and I can whip one up in about 30 minutes! Thank you sooo much!!!

Great job! So glad the video was helpful!
These are great stash busters, and FYI, I just bought 250 3mm elastic bands on Amazon for $9.99! You can pay a little more and get the thicker 4mm ones in bulk, too. One tip: I crochet over the tail as I go and I have one less tail to weave in when I’m finished.

Fun Cooking 250 though?
Great tutorial. I'm a 55 yr old crochet newbie and needed some easy projects. I've already made a bunch in different colors as a surprise for my teenage daughter. Thanks
I love how you slowly teach because others were so fast yours is more up close and i can see it thank you.
Oh my God I love your scissors
Daughter made it very understandable and gave a great tip! Thanks gals!
Great tutorial ladies. I just made one...and couldn't stop!Thanks!
I love you slow and how thurough you are with you tutorials! It really helps with crocheting!
Omg this is so cute. I learned chrochet from my mom as a kid, but never do it anymore. But I am definately going to do this!
I love your videos now I know how to chrochet more stuff thank you
I just started crocheting and honestly I LOVE THIS IDEA! I made stuffed animals for the kids for Christmas and had NO CLUE what to make with the rest of my yarn but this is AWESOME!
I enjoyed hearing Jax come in and then playing with your yarn! LO. Cute and pretty kitty!
How beautiful. Love seeing mother and daughter doing it together. Love it
I absolutely love this because I think it’s a great gift for my little sister since she like little wrist jewelry’s thanks for this amazing tutorial
my second time crocheting, only having learned a single crochet and i made the cutest scrunchie! such an amazingly easy and clear tutorial
Lovin the cat! My cat tried to help once but all he managed to do is chase the ball of yarn all over the living room and dining area 🤦🏽♀️ this is a cute idea Thanks for sharing.
It's like the cartoons when the kitten plays with the ball of yarn,🤭 it's more special now🥺😍 because I discovered a special connection with them and later with the yarn and crafts🥰 I can live cartoon's life🤭😝🌻
You gals make it look so easy. Thanks so much for the video.
My daughter is learning and just finished a pillow as a moving up beginner project. I've been sitting here trying to find her another and this is perfect! Thank you!
Love this tutorial! I’ve recently been into crocheting for the past 2 weeks, other than squares and rectangles, this was my first project. Since it was my first actual project I thought I would do something small and easier for beginners and this was prefect. I’m super proud of what I made and I 100% recommend this to beginners.
Love the Mommy/daughter duo! 🥰👩👧
Just made this with velvet yarn in a blue color and its very cute! Thanks for the amazing tutorial, you two are amazing!
Lovely tutorial! I am actually making a bunch of these for my nieces, sister, daughter’s teachers... So I really appreciate the extra tip for using super bulky yarn & trebles! Super cute & sweet girl + cat. I’ll share this with my daughter, maybe she’ll be inspired to crochet with me 💝
I love how include your daughter in the videos! This reminds me when I would crochet with my mom!!!!
I can definitely empathize with having a cat who insists on being involved in everything lol

Thank You Both! This couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s time to pull my hair up. Jack is darling and Avery smart kitten. He made me smile. Be Well
Jax was waiting for a few new toys!! If only you could teach him to hold a crochet hook. ❤❤❤
This video helped me a lot it was the beginning of a passion for the quarchet thank you very much you and your daughter are really really cute
Am happy to see your daughter thread the yarn around her fingers and hold the hook with a pencil grip. That’s exactly how I crochet.
im so happy my grandma teached me how to do all this crochet things when I was like 5 years old, and she is still teaching me,
How adorable is your girl!! I just love to crochet! Thanks for this video I’m going to try this for sure!
Jack is a great helper!
Perfect! Thank you, Erica and Katie!!
Thanks for step by step, this video reminder me my childhood my mom make it for me and my sister but i never ask my mom to teach me. Now i want to learn it.
Loved the hilarious cat and you two are very very talented. I am going to try and not fail miserably. It was and amazing starter video for me because I am going to try it today.😁

Love your cat!!!!!!
I laughed out loud 😆 the playful kitty!
love mom& daughter projects
By far the easiest tutorial I’ve ever seen! Thanks!!
I am so gonna try this!!!! I also love your cat playing with your yarn while you work.
Amazing tutorial! I didn't get the others. Now I dont even have to watch the video I know how to do it! Everyone goes so fast. You explain the steps without having to lear what stitch you have to do. Thankyouuuuuu
The kitty cat was a nice surprise! Thank you for the tutorial! I'm just starting out and these are very helpful :')
thank you so much! this was super easy to follow -- most videos that i find that advertise themselves as "beginner friendly" are very difficult to understand and move much too fast for me to absorb all the information. you guys are really great, i'm definitely going to look at more of your videos!
Your kitty is like ooo I wanna help
your daughter is really polite :)
Love it mother and daughter, very nice thank you for sharing keep on crocheting.
I absolutely loved these scrunchies - the yarn is scrumptious! I was so inspired that I included your project in a roundup post on my website about beginner crochet projects. Thanks for sharing your skills with the community! Keep up the fantastic work. 😊
I adore 🥰Jack,s eyes, well adore Jack. He is the best 🥰✨💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕🐱
Thank y'all for making this video! I am a beginner crocheter and was able to make one of these with ease! Love that mom and daughter have found something to connect over!
First I want to commend you for your true and honest self I just watched 29 tutorials on how to make scrunchies and out of all of them you were the one that made it sound easy ...you made mistakes ....you laughed it off and so did your daughter. Thank You so not being cold and trying to make it so professional just being yourself. Please forget those other 29 tutorials I’m sticking with the human touch. 💖
