I have a volvo 940, perfect for sleeping in. A few mods, get the rears tinted, limo tint. Then for the rear windows, some cellax insulation cut to size, permanently fitted (for camp trips) the door windows have the same, stored under the rear panels. Back window gets the same treatment. Set of heko wind deflectors allow the rear windows to be cracked open and it's the only time I'm glad of a windy window car. I split the front from the rear with a curtain, with a small clip on either side of the plastic trim. All luggage goes in the roof box. In the autumn it's very snug. Like you have, thin memory foam roll up mattress and a wool quilt, the rear is completely flat with the seats down. Perfect. And it can all be easily reverted to a passenger car.

Simply love the simplicity of it all. My kind of setup. Well done and happy camping!

Thanks.Good to see it. Not sure if my rear seats in the Skoda Superb estate actually come all the way out though. Insulating against the cold might be an interesting problem to overcome. I think with the keys in the ignition and I had the front seat heaters on, the engine would start up intermittently automatically all through the night to ensure I wasn't running the battery down too much. That might be perfect or a perfect nuisance.

fantastic. hope i'm gonna achieve it with my Peugeot 208. not as ideal as yours, has a little inbend at the end that makes me worry for comfort

I’ve got a idea to remove the back seats and passenger seat then make a flat bed with box roof in a L shape curved over the passenger side window opening at the boot for access with padding down the left sleeping side and draws/tabletop on the right.. I hope that’s understandable but I’m just unsure about the legality of this isit ok to do ? I’ve got a vw polo too haha nice and compact 😉

Hi sorry Ryan just seen this! I never had any problems just wanging a bed in the back. Also unsure about insurance/legality side of things, however I have been towed out of a ditch on my insurance, and it has also been impounded due to parking somewhere I shouldn't have, not once did anyone mention the wooden contraption in the back of the car or the sheets on it - ofcourse research for yourself and decide how cautious you want to be :)

Great stuff! One question mate, have you payed any sort of homologation for camperizing the car? I mean, have you ever had any legal problems of some sort with the police?

Condensation is inevitable, just crack the windows slightly open. A wool quilt is a must in the winter!

I finished it a few months back while it was still cold , just with a cracked window, i didnt feel cold at all, , outside temp in the evening was around-2-3 celsius, inside it got to around 12 just from the breathing , plus i had a nice sleeping bag. Im satisfied with mine overall, couldnt travel a lot because the corona hit, but im gonna try it this folowing weekends on some camping and fishing trips.. Josh Raymond yeah man I just did it with a c2. Took out all seats inc. passenger and made the bed a single with room behind front seat for portable heater, clothes, portable job etc.

Have a Peugeot 307 SW 07 i was planing on making something in, and now you made it so much easier for me😊 Great guide and all😊 did you use 2x2 for the support? Did you test the supported weight? Anyways thanks for the good video, only problem left now is making my fiance agree to sleep in the car🤔

Sorry I didn't see this message on my alerts :/ I tested that it would take my weight and it seemed fine :) Yeah I'm not sure if it invalidated my insurance at all but I even needed a recovery callout and they didn't mention the bed.

What do you insure it as a motorhome or car

I want someone to take a normal car.. hatchback or something small and turn it into a camper like Foresty Forest did to the minivan he bought. I imagine you don't even need to take out the passenger seat.., you just modify the seat so it has a hole in it so you can stretch your legs through it. Behind the drivers seat you could have the kitchen.. it would be absolutely awesome to see
