It’s amazing how many of these videos make it seem overly complicated. Your drawing with the dimensions is one of the more helpful plans I’ve ever seen and yet so simple. Thank you!

Home Depo is paradise although half the people who work at my Home depo have No clue where things are and what those things do. Thank goodness I learned from my Grandfather and one of my uncle’s. I have a 2003 crv and she’s the best car I’ve ever had. Love my adventure wheels.

Love seeing more Hondas being turned into small campers. My wife and I have a very simple platform over the seats in our Honda Element when we stealth camp 😁 #teamhonda

I think I have the same year CRV. I did a very similar build for stealth camping on a road trip. I felt it was too cramped with vertical space. Next time I think I'm removing the back seats and focus on getting the sleeping platform as low as possible.

Absolutely brilliant! I need to leave my back seat in and I've been looking for something that I can keep in my SUV and still use the back seat when I'm not traveling so I love how you used the drop pins to make it. You have no idea how many videos I've watched trying to get this exact set up! Thank you SO much for sharing this with us 😊

Eric Enjoys Earth has a five ppanel version. The front and back panels both slide back to make sofa style seats. The two panels involved are joined by hinges. The fifth panel is narrow and used to hold the panels down. His design requires a frame for the panels to move around on. I think Eric and you use heavier timber than needed. Go back to Home Depot and find some actual bed legs. They are much skinnier than yours. I intend to adapt Eric's idea and make torsion box panels, perhaps 40mm thick. I'm undecided between 3mm and 6/7mm ply. It should be a lot stronger but lighter than your design.. Weight costs fuel. I have used an interior doom as a bed, it works well but can't be folded. Those are torsion boxes, 2040mm long.

That is very similar to what I did in my 2016 CRV. I used the same video you did to start with. I built mine with more support legs since I am 6'1" and 300 pounds. I wish I had seen this video before I built mine as you did a couple of things differently that are better than the way I did it. I can't wait to see your other videos!

So glad that I landed on your vlog and instantly subscribed. I am guessing that you are an Engineer in the way how you planned, documented and costed the assembly. Fine work and congratulations. Been watching several videos in my quest to convert my 2014 CRV. I rank you a #1 for the simplicity of design, fast, easy to Camperise (my own word!) and restore to original vehicle. With any conversion, the ability to access the spare tire, and little extra space in the well (though a rarity..) was a concern with the CRV. This design should allow you to lift the entire back platform up by removing the locator pin, and may be propping it up with taller wooden legs temporarily held by locator pins and get access to the spare tire. Other option I would prefer would be that the 2 back legs near the trunk door side could be hinged so they can fold flush with the under side of the platform to easily access the spare tire without disturbing / moving the back platform. To restore the legs, un-hinge the legs to upright position and use a locator pin to prevent it from folding and stay upright. Since access to spare tire is important, I wouldn't build any shelves on the underside, and limit the space underneath to removable plastic storage tubs or such. This is the first video of yours I have watched so far, and will be binge watching the rest of your series. Also whenever you visit any campsites would you please provide some details of that site with regard to the location, name, amenities, cost , safety etc which would be very helpful. Once again Kudos for a great Job!

First off, congrats to Rose for doing everything by herself with no previous experience. However, to anyone interested in making a bed platform for a Honda CRV, watch the video from Matt the Designer with the title "1 Sheet of Plywood Collapsible Platform" It is a similar design to this but in a much more refined, better-engineered version, more practical, and more functional as it also includes a slide out table. It costs the same and even though it looks more complicated, it isn't as he lists all the cuts you have to make and then assemble it.

Nice build! You are very entertaining. The determination in your face is very descriptive. btw your "drop pins" are carriage bolts. When I have suppliers cut materials, generally aluminum I will ask "I need an accurate cut" I've had good luck. My tolerance is generally 1/4" (+/- 1/8") which is sloppy. Your 1" (+/- 1/2") is a lot, but wood is pretty forgiving. Please have save Journeys and Wonderful Adventures!

They are pushed as far forward as possible! So you could put things on them but couldn't sit in them. If you fold the piece of wood attached to the piano hinge back, you could sit in the front seat.
