I scrub my potatoes, poke a couple of holes in them with a fork, rub with olive oil and put them in my instapot on a trivet after I added my cup of water to my IP. I cook on high pressure for 30 min. They come out fluffy on the inside with soft skins. I can cook one or a whole pot this way. Even sweet potatoes ( 25 min cook time) My husband loves them this way.

After washing my potatoes, I dry them and coat them with olive oil. Then I bake them as usual. My family loves them! I also scrub them and rub with oil and put them in my crock pot for an afternoon. I put just a bit of water in the bottom so my crock won't be dry. This is my favorite, no fuss way to do it.😅

You're absolutely right Adeline about the shepherds pie v cottage pie. Shepherds pie was originally made the day after having an oven roasted lamb leg roast. Farmers wives would mince the leftover lamb roast meat and put it through the meat grinder and maybe with any veges leftover would mix it together with any leftover gravy from the drippings, and then top it with mashed potatoes and bake in the oven. No cheese was involved, and certainly no ground beef. We had this on a weekly basis usually on a Monday or Tuesday as a kid as we lived a farming life and mum always did a roast mutton/lamb on a Sunday, as it cooked slowly while we were at church. Later on as people on tien wanted to make a similar thing, ground beef was used, but because it was beef it was called shepherds pie, as shepherds look after sheep not cows, so it was named, and still should be, Cottage pie....and more often than not also includes cheese on top. I'm from New Zealand....and as I said we had it very regularly as kids....and I've also made it most of my life, doing the same thing....btw, I wash and stab my potatoes and just pop them in the oven, on the rack, no tinfoil. I love the crunchy crispy jacket, but my son hated this part, so we just washed a stabbed them well and popped them in the microwave instead, for around 5 mins to start with then added extra minutes as needed. This way the skins stay soft. Hope that helps ❤❤

In Australia sheperds pie was made from left over cooked meat, including beef and lamb the meat would shredded mixed with onions, worstershire sauce and other condiments, salt, pepper and some liquid. It was then heated and topped with mash potatoes etc. I make a vegetarian version and still call it shepherds pie, so i dont think it matters 😊

I really enjoy learning from you! For the potatoes..I use my air fryer. They come out amazing and I get great feedback when I bring them to gatherings. After cleaning them, I coat them in olive oil salt pepper and garlic powder and set them at 350 degrees for about 20 min. It takes some figuring but the skin get a nice crispy texture and the potatoes are creamy on the inside 😋

I make baked potatoes in the instant pot. Wash the potatoes and poke them with a fork every few inches. Put the rack into the instant pot and pour some water to almost reach the rack. Place potatoes on rack and pressure cook for 23 minutes for medium potatoes. And I usually do a quick release. You can then rub them with olive oil and coarse salt and broil in oven yet, but we just add the butter, salt and black pepper at the table.

I would try to bake the potatoes in a ,,römertopf‘‘ ( Roman pot) . I don’t know if it’s popular in the US , but it was in the 70/80‘s here in Europe. A Clay pot that is soaked with water, put the food in it and the lid upon and stick to the oven. Some people like that especially especially for making chicken. Because the food is cooking in its own moist and flavor. Didn’t try it , but I think it would be good for that potatoes.

Is cane sugar better than white sugar? Cane sugar is the type made from sugarcane. The sucrose molecules in both types of sugar are identical, so scientifically there isn't much difference. Like all types of added sugars, cane sugar is usually linked with negative health effects like weight gain, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.

I use my insta pot for our potatoes. Don't wrap them but just stick them in for 5 to 10 minutes depending on size. It makes the whole potato so soft!!!! It's amazing!

I just wash/dry them and put oil on the skin and put them directly on the oven racks. The foil makes them steam potatoes.

I don’t know if this would work with red potatoes, but I oil the outside of my sweet potatoes and bake them uncovered. This helps the skins just peel off.
