Another great topper to use instead of biscuits is hash browns or those southwestern potatoes. Those are the ones that are cubed and come with onions and peppers included. And I know you made it that way to showcase all of the different ingredients, but if I ever make this I'm mixing everything in a bowl before I put it in a greased foil lined baking dish. That will make the clean up a whole lot easier.

Interesting! We typically fix sausage gravy and biscuits and a side or top with eggs during the holidays! This method would probably save some time and make serving to a crowd easier! Have not tried that canned sausage gravy as we usually just make our own in the pan with the sausage. But maybe worth a taste to see how it compares to our homemade. Thanks for the idea and recipe! I mix cooked hash browns with cooked sausage, onions and peppers. I layer a 10X13 glass pan with a can of biscuits and cook them just until they start to brown. Take them out the oven and pour the hash brown mixture on top and spread evenly. Then I take a dozen eggs and scramble them, pour on top of the hash browns and then add cheddar cheese. Set oven to 375°F and cook for 30 minutes. That's just enough time for the biscuits to finish cooking and for the eggs to rise and turn fluffy.

Miss Justine, I have a question? If one is using the canned sausage gravy and sausage, would you still need to salt everything since those two ingredients have salt in them? I do almost the same thing ....I put biscuits on the bottom (whole , no no need to split , they cook just fine, sometimes ill use the smaller buscuits....just as good)first. Then layer it. Don't need to cook eggs first , they will cook just fine. I personally like 2 whole gravy batches I make from scratch although it nearly overflows when cooked....lol We eat on it for 2 days and it's just as good reheated. Also I sometimes skip the 2nd batch of gravy and add a layer of thawed hashbrowns (or fresh made , with or without the veggies added), 2nd light layer of cheese on the very top. Depends on how crispy you like your hashbrowns is determined by how thawed they are...lol Light layer of cheese on top of every layer of ingredients. 385 degrees for about 55 minutes. Ive fixed this often enough , i have it down ,in several different ways, what works and doesnt. I've even added a layer (1can drained)of Rotel to spice it up some....mmmmm mmmmm good !!!!

I like to line my dish with shredded hash browns and bake like a pie crust and then remove from oven and then mix my ingredients in a separate bowl and pour into hash brown crust and top with biscuits and rebake. Serve with salsa and chopped chives or green onion as garnish. Also if you want onion or bell pepper in your mixture then sauté them in your sausage/bacon grease and soak up excess grease in paper towels and reintroduce into your ingredients and add back in. I put mushrooms too. I just add all the ingredients we like. It’s so easy and yummy. I love watching her idea’s because she gets me thinking about what’s next.

I have to critique this. First of all you should have mixed everything in a bowl first. However, you really shouldn't cook scrambled eggs again, it leaves them dry, no matter how much gravy you put in. They basically turn to rubber. I would suggest mixing up the eggs raw, add the sausage, par bake, then add the cheese, gravy and biscuits, and finish baking it. When it comes out of oven, baste biscuits with some melted butter. I give you 3 stars out of five for effort.

The eggs, the cheese, the sausage, the gravy..... DO NOT hesitate to get your cholesterol checked IMMEDIATELY after consuming this dish! Also swallow at least one half bottle of Lipitor just to be safe!

Actually it does. Especially if you use fresh brown gravy made from scratch when making a roast and use the left overs on french fries or hasbrowns with cheese.

Clearly you’ve never been to Quebec or heard of poutine. Maybe you need to get out more and experience other cultures than the one in your house.
