Easy-Bake Oven Recall Retrofit Kit
Ойын-сауық
Hasbro issued a recall of their Easy-Bake Oven in Feb 2007 due to hand entrapment and burn hazards. Small children were getting their hands stuck and in some cases, burned. Hasbro's solution is a retrofit kit that they claim makes this product safe. Our 2 year old is one of the children who's had their hands trapped (but not burned). She was not allowed to play with her older sister's Easy-Bake Oven, and the oven was unplugged and put away in the kitchen pantry, but she stuck her hand in the oven slot in the pantry. See how (in)effective Hasbro's retrofit kit is. IN OUR EXPERIENCE, THIS PRODUCT IS NOT SAFE, WITH OR WITHOUT THE RETROFIT KIT.

it's 4 ages 8 and up. the box says keep away from children.
It is reasonable to expect that a parent should supervise a 2 at all times. With older kids and younger kids in the same house it isn't unreasonable to protect them from older kid toys. We protected our younger kids from legos, lite brite pegs, easy bake ovens and all sorts of things. 2 year olds shouldn't be expected to watch themselves. It's obvious from the video that she didn't learn from her experience since she is still willing to put her hand in there. That's because she is 2.
helloooooooooooo it says on the box ages 8 and up do they read the before opening it
So, if your 2 year old keeps playing with the oven, why don't you just put it up in a high closet, and make a rule that the other little girl has to ask you to use it first? That is what my mom did when I had one.
Watch Your Children For Godsakes And Be A Parent.
You folks are missing the fact that the Easy-Bake Oven was unplugged and put away in a kitchen cabinet. To our minds, the danger was heat, and unplugging it and putting it away was protecting her from that heat. Who knew that the thing was designed to trap the hands of little people who opened the cabinet and stuck their hands in the flap? We didn't. Nor did lots of other people whose kids were injured. That's the point.
Good video
What "mechanism" got the hand stuck? details man, they are important.

Probably like.. a kid shoving their head in-between something but not being able to get it out.
98770: yes, we're very happy that Hasbro is finally doing the right thing and genuinely recalling this product (meaning asking for them back, instead of providing a retrofit that did nothing).
I got the same easy bake oven.when I read the box it said.....8 AND UP.
First of all the Easy Bake oven is for ages 8-11 smart one and thats why they give u a spatula so u can put it in and take it out ur never and not suppose to put ur hand inside!
thats why on cpsc website they now said that if you return the oven they will give you credit on another product
Oh. Wow there goes my child hood toy I still miss it BTW
It didn't work the whole easy bake and the kit to fix the issue both got recalled later
i had a white one when i was like four, and i never got hurt
Yes, she was too young to have an Easy Bake Oven. If you read the description under or in the video, you will note that she was not allowed to play with the oven. It was unplugged and put away in the pantry. She opened the pantry, saw the interesting-looking slot, and put her hand in it. This was a product defect which seriously injured a number of children (fortunately not ours), was acknowledged by Hasbro, and they pulled the product (as it was).
I feel sorry for her I hope she’s better and I buy stuff like that off of eBay so you don’t have to worry about that stuff again
Had you read the description below or in the video, you would have learned that the 2 year old was not allowed to play with the Easy Bake Oven, nor was it plugged in or turned on. It was in a pantry and the 2 year old opened the pantry, saw the interesting-looking slot, and stuck her hand in. It took a huge EMS crew a long time to get her hand out, but happily she was not hurt. Sadly, a lot of kids did exactly the same thing and for some of them the oven was on, and they were badly hurt.
Aww poor girl:'(
Don't ever get a 1 2 3 4 5 or 6 year old an easy or queasy bake oven because they might get there hand stuck in it
Good thing hasbro never came out with the easy lawn lawn mower

Skeelo This recall is a byproduct of how stupid today's generation is first of all adult supervision if parents acted like parents for once and watch how there kids where using this toy or just in general what they are doing just maybe there would have been much less of a chance of them getting burned or hand stuck inside of something, the only time where things like this becomes not safe is when there's a lack of users common sense

+hdyudu did you even read? The oven wasn't in use. It was put away and the child got to it. God forbid people take their eyes off their child to take a piss or something.

Did you got it out
@Sheryl Rosa
The mechanism on the inside which caused her (and other kids') hand to get stuck had been destroyed by the EMS crew that got her hand out the first time.
pouse at 00:9 it say her SISTER
mommy mommy come quick its stuck ur hand again X I no my rock oh ok
The ultamite oven is safe because you cant even put your han in it. yummy cakes!
Well it unplugged Duhh
There should be a magnetic attraction between the flap and the pan so the flap will only open to the pans magnets of course Hasbro did not think of that soo sad
I got my hand stuck in it when I was little
I got that one but we had to throw it out
Yes, that's what the box says, though many would argue that they actually market it more to kids a couple years younger than that. Regardless, the Easy-Bake Oven did not belong to our 2 year old, it belonged to her older sister -- as is stated in the video. The oven was unplugged and stored on a shelf in our pantry. But by age 2 1/2, kids have pretty free reign of the house. Is it reasonable to expect that these toys would ONLY be sold into houses where the YOUNGEST child is 8?
This was not a new one; it was demonstrating that the Hasbro "fix" for the defect did not work. Even a kid who had her hand stuck in the thing and needed an EMS team to get her out still wanted to put her hand in the "fixed" oven. An important part of this oven was that the EMS team had broken the inside part which could have trapped her hand--there was no risk of injury here. The video was supplied to the Hasbro Board and was part of their decision to do a full recall and change the design.
You should read the description accompanying or in the video. And if a product is designed in such a way that natural human curiosity causes a bunch of kids to get seriously hurt, then, yes, it is a product defect--as acknowledged by the manufacturer.
Sounds like a case of affluenza. If you're smart enough to post this crap, you're smart enough to read the instructions. For ages 8 and up. Go sue someone else.

+carl cavitt Wow, you read really well, huh? The 2 year old was not allowed to play with the Easy-Bake Oven, and we did not sue anyone. But, hey, brilliant post there, Carl.

@@sneepsnorp3801 And maybe they could work on putting it in a place where a 2-year-old can't access it? If you put it in a cabinet that's low enough for a 2-year-old to get into, that's your own fault for being negligent. Especially when you turn around and blame someone else for it. There are instructions and warnings on the product, the box, and in the manual. These companies don't go out of their way to write and print those things just for fun, they exist for a reason. Your inability to read them and ensure dangerous products are out of the reach of your young children is your responsibility as a parent, not the responsibility of the company that has already warned you three times.
Your a liar you did not show us that vido
my thing is with the parents.. learn to read... it usually says 5,6 or 8 and up... so realistically I blame the parents. sorry.. but how do you blame a company when the age restriction is on the box, even if the parents dont read the box knowing that the product gets hot... Hello.... yall just wanted attention. Just remember the words.. "oven" and "hot" and not to mention that there is a cord attached to the product.
Oh, and we didn't want attention. We easily could have sued Hasbro, but did not. What we wanted was for them to fix their product appropriately--which ultimately they did.
Well . How does this retrofit kit works on easy bake oven so it will keep the children safe ? There is only one way to keep the children safe . Because of this easy bake oven , you may want to buy the retrofit kit after you buy a easy bake oven . How damn is this thing ?
Don't blame bad parenting on a toy company which has made quality toys for 88 years jesus christ
@ladyjeng Really, can you read? The 2 year old was not invited to play with the Easy-Bake Oven. It was put away in a (lower) kitchen cabinet. It was not plugged in and was not hot. What it was, was designed in such a way as to be very attractive to little kids to stick their hands in and then designed to trap their hands. It took a huge crew of EMS personnel some time to get her hand out. We were lucky; she was not hurt. Some kids were badly hurt. We didn't want attention and didn't sue.
@Tammysgirl1 cant believe your a single mom of five!! your an amazing and strong woman!! and its true i think any mom responsable mom in the world would leave their child playing alone specially if theyre young
LOL , thats gay. Shes so little why would they let her use it anyways ? And why are they encouraging her to put rocks in it ?
This is why i never had one, i just used the microwave when i was 12 😂😂😂. No joke, kids should keep away from those things
As it plainly states in the description of the video and in the video itself: "She was not allowed to play with her older sister's Easy-Bake Oven, and the oven was unplugged and put away in the kitchen pantry." She opened the pantry, saw the interesting-looking slot, and stuck her hand in. This was a product defect which seriously injured a number of children (fortunately not ours), was acknowledged by Hasbro, and they pulled the product (as it was).
Why so many dislikes lmao
It is amazing how few of you can read.
My daughter was at the ER yesterday with her fingers trapped inside this same easy baker! The fire fighters were called by the hospital, i have video, pics, she was in terrible pain. It was a nightmare!
she's obviously too young to know any better. why the hell would you allow her play with it and put her hand in? granted the flap thing doesn't do anything but you have to own up to the fact that YOU let her play with it when shes too young and YOU let her put her hand in it.
You people consistently don't read very well, do you? The Easy-Bake Oven did not belong to the two year old. It belonged to her older sister. The two year old was not allowed to play with it. The oven was not left out. It was put away in the pantry. The two year old put her hand in the oven in the pantry.
Really? You should try READING. You might learn something... like how the Easy Bake Oven was unplugged and put away. Or perhaps you're suggesting that the thing was so dangerous that good parents should have had it in a locked cabinet? Maybe in a walk-in safe??
