EASY AND DELICIOUS APPLE DUMPLINGS

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video is about How To Make Easy and Delicious APPLE DUMPLINGS.
OR AS WE SAY IT IN SOUTH LOUISIANA, "APPLE DUMPLINS".
Makes 4 gorgeous Apple Dumplings.
Ingredients
4 Apples Granny Smith, Honey Crisp, or any apple will do.
2 Boxes pre made refrigerated pie crust
4 Tbsp. Butter (salted) for apples
3 Tbsp. brown sugar (for apples)
3 Tsp. Cinnamon (for apples)
3 Tbsp. Chopped Pecans (Optional)
SAUCE
3 Tbsp. Butter
1 1/2 cups brown sugar (packed)
1 cup water
1 Tsp. Vanilla
Pinch of salt
INSTRUCTIONS
PREPARE THE SAUCE
Mix brown sugar, butter, vanilla and water in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar has melted into the water.
Turn fire off and let sit while you prepare the apples.
PREPARE THE APPLE SEASONING
Mix together
3 Tbsp. White or Brown sugar
3 Tsp. Cinnamon
PREPARE APPLES
Slice the bottom of each apple so it’ll sit up straight in the baking pan.
Core the apples.
Remove skin is optional. We are removing the skin in this recipe.
Stuff each apple with cinnamon, brown sugar and butter.
Roll out dough and cut into two pieces. Square off.
Set apple in the middle of a rectangle of dough.
Fill apple core with sugar, cinnamon a little pecan pieces and butter.
Fold dough over each apple completely making sure to stick dough together well, then decorate with a few leaves and a stem.
Set apples in a 8”X8” baking pan.
Pour sauce over apples.
Bake in a 375° F. preheated oven, center rack for 50 minutes or until browned.
Baste twice.
Remove then allow apples to cool for 20 minutes before serving.
Serve as is or with vanilla ice cream.

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... LOVE the new kitchen and these dumplings are to die for. I have never had this before. Fancy fleur-de-lys shirt. That's some fancy vanilla. Idk how you get you fridge to be so shiny. Mine always has streaks. Fancy corer. OK, everything is fancy! 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Stop making hole in the dough! 😀😀. Love the hidden nuts. Again, fancy leaf embellishments! 🤢🤢I am green with envy! Stop teasing!

If you bake them without the sauce for 20min first it gives the pastry a chance the cook and firm up then put the sauce in and cook for the amount of time to reduce the sauce and brown the top and it will be a lot nicer pastry on the bottom half

Instead of brown sugar a small amount of maple syrup is used along with a small amount of dried currants and or dried cranberries', both revived by soaking in hot water first. I had a lot of fun making these for our Thanksgiving dessert. They turned out so pretty. My grandsons got a kick out of watching your video too, they were great helpers. My only concern was that my apples were still pretty firm after cooking for an hour. When I make these again I think I will bake my apples a bit before wrapping them in their crust and baking, or I may try smaller apples. Thank you for the wonderful recipe! 😊

You know, I’ve never had that with mine. I’m thinking it’s got to do with cooking in different climates. So whatever you need to do to make them come out great. That’s what you should do. I change up recipes to suit my personal taste. Then I make that recipe. If it’s great, then that’s it. But I’m usually tweaking along the way. Glad you guys had fun in the kitchen. Mr Sanders please in your next recipe explain the meaning of glue the top of the apple...my daughter and her 4 friends watched you app video decided to make them and used elmers glue to hold the leaves on ..i came home and noticed my bottle of glue on the counter and thought they were making crafts..no no they glued the apple together...my home will smell like baked glue for a while....

Oh No. 🤣 I know Elmer’s glue is not a food product but I seem to remember kids in grammar school eating it. I never did. Maybe it tastes good? LOL. Please Please Children. Use egg wash as a glue. 😊

This is how I make it except I put the mixed sauce ingredients in the oven in the baking pan to get hot while preparing the apples. Tastes the same and I have one less pan to wash😊

How much of the cinnamon and brown sugar you use to stuff the apples. Also, what type of apples did you use for them to hold their shape?

  • @TheSandersKitchen

    @TheSandersKitchen

First, you can use grannie smith or any Apple. After coring, stuff as much butter and brown sugar as you can in the hole. It’s that simple.
