The title should say “BEAUTIFULLY NARRATED” ! Jo Alwood has such a warm voice. I love how she speaks in a calm and natural way, so relaxing! A greats difference from the strident robotical voices used for KZread videos. I am not talking about the artificial voices, but of very active young human narrators that narrate videos monotonically, loudly, and at full speed, they seemed to be out of The Simpsons.

Yeah, well, like I said, you could walk past one's tree dozens of times without seeing the owl. If you have lots of mature trees and some water nearby, you might consider putting up a box. That used to work for us occasionally--until a pair of Great Horned Owls moved into our woods. They would eat Screech Owls.

We used to hear them--until a pair of Great Horned Owls moved in 14 years ago. Then it was time for the Screech Owls to skedaddle. 🥲 One summer evening when my granddaughter was maybe five years old, one of them whinnied, and she came running to me on the patio, big-eyed, exclaiming, "A horsie, a horsie." I was sorry to have to tell her it wasn't a horse.

It is my fondest wish to see one in the wild. Any owl for that matter! I do of course realize that for that to happen I must go looking. They will not present themselves to me as I sit here talking about it on You tube! There is a place nearby where there is a pond, Cypress trees and other woods, where I will go when weather permits. I'll take my binoculars and search the trees for anything that might look like the habitat of one of these little guys!!!

Tips, Hunter? Yes and no. They're so difficult to see but you stand a better chance if you know about their calls. (In case you haven't already seen it, check out my vid on Barred and Great Horned: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iqyYvLmFm8-Tg9Y.html) Unless you have them in your neighborhood and know their calls, your best bet is to become a member of a local birding group, like Audubon.
