I was raised here, no where near most dangerous hood.

East side is NOT the most dangerous neighborhood. It's actually one of the least dangerous. Working class doesn't automatically mean crime ridden.

For the most part, if you don't go there looking for trouble, the people in that city will be nice to you. I worked in E.C. Schools for 5 years, and I loved it. I met some of the best people in the world there. I used to joke around with them all of the time. I know. I have a strange sense of humor sometimes, but I'm a teddy bear. You all are good people. As a kid, I remember a lot of old White people lived there, especially near Dominick's. Everywhere's becoming dangerous, I guess.

One of the reasons the area has such a bad reputation is because people who don't live or work in the community is creating this narrative. Some of the other comments attest to the East Side not being any better or worse than other areas in Chicago.
