East Midlands Railway. First Class. Great service. Dirty and a very tired interior. Class 222 train.

Фильм және анимация

Hello and welcome to a new video.
I took EMR (East Midlands Railway) from Sheffield to London in first class on the class 222 meridian train.
The train interior was very tired and dirty.
EMR have announced new trains so hopefully this will improve things.

Great video! All EMR first class lounges have been closed since the start of the pandemic and EMR cba to open them

Glad you enjoyed the video. Stay tuned as I have a train trip on the Swedish high speed train in first class coming in a few weeks. Well as long as the strikes at Gatwick don’t stop me getting to Sweden

The great psychological manipulation exercise. Destroying small businesses whilst corporates thrive.

They do look really tatty. It won't be another 12 - 15 months until the new class 810 trains come into service. Another good video by the way!

do you think the overhead power extension will be as far as liecester by the time they are introduced or is it only going as far as market harborough?

i remember when the class 222's were first introduced when pete waterman gave his opinion/review on them, im not sure what he'd think now but they are in a sorry state.

The 222's just need a proper investment put into them. But from what I heard EMR want to invest but the DfT has basically refused to sign it off. If a proper investment was made, these units would definitely run better.

Nice video! The reason the trains are abit knackered is because of there age, there interior dates back to EMT and I think EMR are refurbishing them but you’ve gotta cut them some slack because EMR only have a limited number of meridian units and can only have a few off service at anyone time

i know this is 10 months since you made this comment but those class 222's were introduced when it was the midland mainline, hard to believe they are 20 years old now, repainted on the outside but still the same fittings from 2004 on the inside, the class 43's were better maintained than the class 222's

@@beardedmonkey1320 The 43's definitely werent better maintained. The original EMT 43's HST sets, according to some emr staff, were hanging on by a thread. Apparently a lot of corrsion underneath and a handful of issues onboard, hence why they were sent to the scraps and the LNER sets were brought in, and apparently their hsts sets were just as bad if not worse. Interior-wise yes the 43's hst sets were better maintained compared to the 222's. Though mechnically the 43's were worse off (though could that be put down to age of the units?)

@@SFSEfartman a train that lasted over 40 years not maintained better? these 222's wont last as long si i maintain that 43's were maintained better

First class not very popular on this service it seems as you had the whole carriage to yourself. The lounges used to serve complimentary drinks and snacks too which is probably why you were able to have more than one drink.
