    Lovely video. I've only visited the East Lancs once about 20 years ago but I loved the city centre feel of Bolton Street and your film perfectly captured that early to mid 60s feel with the coaches all in different liveries the only giveaway is the cleanliness of the locomotives. I love that gantry at Bolton Street. I moved to France 7 years ago and I do miss being able to find steam at the drop of a hat, they don't have heritage railways here like they do in the U.K. Most standard gauge steam is on the main line and usually a long way away and what heritage railways there are, are narrow gauge and don't operate a regular timetable but tend to open for groups and on odd weekends the exception being the Baie de la Somme at Le Croutoy. I love watching these films you guys post keep them coming.

    crikey. 54325, how old is that. brings back memories that does. of course all the steam brings back chidhood memories. I wish I could still go and stand with you Phill but my legs don't want to. Have walked the tracks on this and many outhe railways and love every minute, I'm sure this gave you great pleasure and I thank you for sharing..

    What have they done here? The A class normally 52322 has gone to 52345 and the 0-6-0 normally 2890 has been badly transformed into 52322. Why?

  • @AndreiTupolev

    @AndreiTupolev

    Yes, why do they do that? It's thoroughly misleading, and whatever reason they give "it was the number of an engine that was based at Bury in 1952" or whatever is surely so obscure that very very few people would realise it or appreciate their efforts
