East Arnhem Land “The Great Escape” Pt3
Come and check out some of the amazing landscape the makes up one of Australia’s most remote regions, East Arnhem Land. We also visit one of the region’s most remote communities and spend the day learning about their culture and lifestyle. Then as we are heading back to Katherine we almost get stranded on the side of the East Arnhem Road, miles from nowhere! We also get to test out our 4wd skills in this spectacular part of the country

Hi Paul and Wenda, I thoroughly enjoyed the Arnhem Land episodes. The adventure looked truly amazing, and I must commend you both for sharing this incredibly informative and inspiring series with your audience. Your passion for exploring our great country is truly commendable 👏 I completely understand the title of this video, given the numerous picturesque locations and the challenging tyre changes on both the caravan and car in such tough environments! Stay safe and catch you guys next week where we’ll be stopping by once again 🤠 Kind Regards Corrie

This week's video was awesome. LOVED it! Thanks so much for sharing. You both should be so proud of yourselves! 🏆🏆 You really did go to some remote places, very inspiring. We can add Arnhem Land to the bucket list. What an experience that remote village would have been. Glad you were able to get the tyres fixed, what a hassle for you with 2 flat tyres! We were wondering if the tyre pressure system warned you and yes it did - definitely worth the purchase. Thanks again. Stay safe Paul & Wenda and see you next week ❤

Great video . We were there a few months ago and enjoyed seeing the places you visited that we had also visited. The Dahlinbuy (spelling??) Community (and Kevin) was pretty interesting. Minor point ... (1) you said "..composting toilet .. whatever that means..". Have you not looked at composting toilets for your caravan? Definitely worth a look. Google will steer you right. No dump points needed. And ... (2) do you not carry a tyre repair kit with you to allow you to plug your tyres? Save you heaps if you get one. But it was an entertaining video and thanks for posting.

Thanks yeah it’s an amazing part of the country. We haven’t considered a composting toilet for the van but have started to look into this as an option We do carry a tyre repair kit but have never used it. But it was a good back up if needed Thanks for watching Cheers
Another amazing episode, well done to you both 👏👏👍💕

You were the victims of boxes of Tek screws that broke open on a truck coming to Nhulunbuy about a year ago scattered over a fair distance. The driver picked up a lot and also locals that were traveling pick up alot ,but you still found one.

Yeah we figured we were a bit unlucky 1 to actually run over one and 2 that it was positioned to pierce the tyre Cheers Paul and Wenda
Well done guys and what a great experience. Would love to know what you really thought of travelling the Central Arnhem Rd towing yr van. Cheers Bob.

G'day Bob, yeah it was a great experience, it did take its toll on the van, there has been some damage due to the roads (aside from the tyres). But that is why we bought an off road van, to do this type of trip. We only do this type of trip once a year, last year it was the Oodnadatta, the year before Cape York etc. However we wouldn't do any of them a second time with our van. We'd been thinking about doing the Gibb, next year, but having second thoughts at the moment. As for the trip itself the van handled really well, we drove mostly 60-80 kmh (never over) Hope this was helpful Cheers Paul

@@beyondthegreyoz thanks Paul, my wife and I are keen to do. We have an off-road van and intend to do in the dry season. Just got to pick the year!! Cheers for the info. Rgds Bob.
Wenda mentioned you had to put the Cruiser into 4wd to go up a track. Your vehicle is a constant 4wd all the time, so we assume you meant you put it into low range to make it easier

What’s a composting toilet? I’m surprised with all the off grid travel you do you haven’t upgraded to one in the van. No water needed, no chemicals, no smells and no looking for dump points!

We’ve never looked to them before but sounds like they might be worth checking out 👍 thanks
What a beautiful area - well worth the visit. Was the cost $330 each? 🤔 Always great to have an elder on your side for local knowledge and blessings! This is what it SHOULD be like across Australia instead of all the trouble makers and activists demanding rights!!! also what tyre pressure you running in the tracks - looks like your running std Dunlop Geolanders in the truck 🛻!

Kevin was great, he was refreshing to listen to. We were running about 30 psi all round and yes they were the standard Dunlop ATs that come with the Cruiser. We've replaced them now with Bridgestone Duellers.
$300 per head to visit a remote village ! Tell 'em they're dreaming.

Yeah it’s a lot of money but we probably won’t get back to Arnhem and we really wanted to do this one.
I would have plugged them on there mate and not even taken off the car or van.

You know what, we didn’t even consider that. Certainly something to consider if we ever find ourselves in that situation again 👍 Cheers
