    Reverse bleeding is easy too. A syringe + 20 cm hose (1-2 eur), Works so nicely, especially my clutch was tricky in the traditional way.

    I'm sort of in the same position now as you were then. Bought my SV650 one day, and broke my foot the next. I've never even had the opportunity to ride my new bike, and it may be 3 months before I can. Like you did, i am using the time to poke and preen all over it, doing a few mods and giving it a deep cleaning. Thanks for the videos!

    Nice video. Use a syringe to draw off the old brake fluid from the reservoir first, then add new fluid in, before you start with the pump. This saves time with the pump, since the only old fluid you have to get out will be the stuff in the brake lines. And you won’t waste any brake fluid as you top-off the reservoir with new fluid, which just mixes with the old stuff and you then have to draw it through. Speed bleeders are also worth a try, but you might need to install quite a few. They simply replace normal bleed screws. With them you don’t need a vacuum kit, just apply the brakes and it’s forced out of a one way valve.

Easy to use as you keep the bleed nipple open and just keep pumping the brake. May pick up this one from Venhill for my next change. Hope you are on the mend, take care

    Tamsen Cooper I replaced the rear Venhill for HEL as it was way too long, was quite disappointed seeing as it was supposed to be bike specific but it was a nicely made line. You can easily change the angle of the banjo bolt then tighten up with a spanner. Checked the link out thanks

    Yeah the lines from Venhill look amazing, I am looking forward to filming that one! Did you give them a call about the length? • @TamsenCooper

    @TamsenCooper

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hey, Thanks for the kind words about my shoulder, every day is a little better but I am so impatient to get back on 2 wheels it is unbearable!!! Mityvac is a similar tool but is it made of plastic? I think what I liked about the Venhill one so much is the way it is made, the metal part of the pump feels really solid and like it will last forever! About the calliper seals, I would agree at least every 2 years, but the Haynes manual has it under 'unscheduled maintenance' and other forum sites suggest looking at it if the brakes are seized or the brake pads are changed, I would suggest that once the brakes are seized, it is a little late to be looking at maintenance and it should be checked well before there is a problem! I tend to include it as part of my spring health check so it is a yearly check for me. Thanks for watching and I hope the same job goes well for you.

  • @TamsenCooper

    @TamsenCooper

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Dave, when you drain the system, then pour in fresh fluid, air can get introduced at that point. The air (sometimes made up of tiny bubbles within the brake fluid so don’t shake it before pouring it in!) can make the braking less effective or feel ‘spongy’. Glad you are enjoying the vids, I hope it goes well!

  • @SinnerSince1962

    @SinnerSince1962

    3 жыл бұрын

    Do the back wheel first? Excactly why? It's it's own complete system and is in no way connected to the front lines. I would agree it's a lot faster to lower the cup level by sucking out as much bad stuff as possible first, then fill the cup back up with fresh. Just don't allow any air into the line, as she mentioned.

  • @AuH2O
    @AuH2O Жыл бұрын

    Vaccuum pump is only half of it. If you're not using nipples with back valves like the Stahlbus ones, which allow you to fill the system through the nipple, you're not doing it right. Come one people, it's 2023, valved nipples have been around for a good while. Forget ever having to open the lid of your reservoir again.

  • @TamsenCooper
