Incredible information! Crazy question here 🙋‍♀️. Having raised 2 kids in the US and now in this early retirement phase in life, what words of advice would you give to a mom (me!) that is intrigued by this lifestyle with her amazing husband, tween daughter and 5yr old son? This seems like an incredible opportunity to learn about so many different cultures and raise them in a way that focuses on relating to others. This is an attractive path that is counter to the mainstream approach of raising a family in a suburb with an excellent school district and get on the college-corporate job-hamster wheel lane.

Thanks! Our advice would be to take your family somewhere as a trial fairly soon. We did that for a month when our kids were about 10. When they get into high school it becomes harder. In the end we waited until they went to college, but trying it out while they are young works for lots of people.

What a wise recommendation! Interestingly enough, we did spend 2 months in Mexico last year for summer break. Having a fully remote consulting practice and amazing parents made it possible. They worked hard, were excellent administrators if the family finances, and were in a position to purchase a house in Mexico that is large enough to host guests. We feel incredibly lucky to have had that opportunity. I like to continuously push boundaries and break from the norm. And now I found myself binging on your videos and formulating a plan to push the boundaries even mores. 🥹 The note on high school makes complete sense! That means that we have 3 years to potentially do something like this with our young family. Thank you for your creative thinking and for being bold with sharing it with the rest of us that never saw this as a possibility.❤️

A factor to consider if retiring overseas is the expense to visit family back home or for them to visit you. Not a problem if you don't want to stay in close physical contact with family and old friends, though.

When we landed, we just walked around and checked out locations. Look specifically for properties that are labeled "Hotel and Apartments"...if you book 3 or more months, there's usually a discount.
