“holding the floodgates closed when they need them to open” is a brilliant way to describe it. so limiting and frustrating!

While we are at it, in addition to Newcomer of the Year award, how about a Comeback Player of the Year award for those who return from injury, maternal break, or lack of form from previous season. Who do we need to talk to at HQ to make these awards happen? Or do we ask for Media input? Thanks,

you havent said it yet in my listen but i am interested who u think is the clear rookie of the year. I also love that u have an official pitch for who should be newcomer of the year. Ive said the same loosely online the same but im not someone with a podcast nd a platform. rookie of the year so far is claire hutton though

as much as Krueger is a good signing they are also lucky bc they signed her to play CB and for Wiesner to start at left back

Re the NWSL, game announcers and some other commentators have been making a big deal about how many goals have been scored so far this season by rookies. A lot of those young players have been impressive, no doubt, but I have a couple of questions for you, Claire. First, is the rate of rookie scoring in 2024 really a lot higher than usual? (I don't know where to find stats to clarify that.) Second, if NWSL rookies *are* performing way better than usual, to what do you attribute that? Is it just random chance that will regress to the mean? Or is something fundamentally different this year that's leading to their success?

Hutton has five good games, bethune has 3 or 4. Same with Hal. Sentnor and Turner leading attacks is also impressive but Bethune outscoring them puts a dent in that. Also Chicago and Washington are undefeated when mal and Trin play, lol.

the Portland analysis feels very wrong. go watch the game from a houston perspective- three goals were the fault of Puntigam. As a dash fan, i dont even blame her, she just isnt a CB.

its just so wrong to say the US cannot afford to lose either of Tierna and Morgan. Striker isnt deep, fair, although Soph Cat Mal Trin Lynn is literally perfect for the 5 in the front three. Morgan is not nearly one of our best attackers- the rest of the wave game should show u that. Tierna is a great leader but as far as natural talent i mean Gorden and Cook are right there, not to mention berkley staab and Sams can do everything Tierna can do. I cannot take seriously the idea that the US is shallow at CB

The NWSL has existed for 10 years and the WNBA has existed for 25 years. Both leagues have only just stabilized a little with less teams relocating/closing. Of COURSE those league don’t have deep rivalries yet 😂 that’s common sense. Colleges have existed for over a century. It’s not the same thing.
