Frank - I'm a bit late (~3 years) since you uploaded this. Tonight (Jan. 2023), I listened to about 15 covers of this song - from the late 1960s till now. Yours was the most soulful. This is a truly sad song. In what it means for the singer's present moment - and his past and future. It deserves to be sung in a mournful way. JF, I don't think it deserves to be sung in a mournful way. This is sugar sweet and very pleasant but the original song had no minor chords and is hard and unsentimental without being bogged down in self pity. Elvis brought in a minor chord and so did others but I don't think GL would ever turn it into a maudlin lullaby.

Beautiful song and great tribute to Gordon Lightfoot. RIP Gordon. 😢

Oh my word, this is beautiful. For fifty or sixty years, my dad held Gordon Lightfoot up as his favorite and other artists had to fulfil that expectation for him. He'd play this album loudly on Saturday mornings in a tiny house where he and my mom raised 8 daughters. My dad passed away on New Years Day 2024. Thank you for this amazing rendition

I love your songs, Frank. I try to copy it a bit playing the guitar but the finger picking style is not that easy.Carry on, man...

That’s miserable. Ha, just kidding. Beautiful song-thanks for introducing it to me. I knew Lightfoot was a great songwriter, but I haven’t had the opportunity to hear much besides his hits.
