Early Beha Cuckoo Clock with Exposed Bird and Eye Automata
Here is a video with narration of a very rare cuckoo clock made by Johann Baptist Beha. The clock has a large exposed bird that is prominently perched in an arch on the top of the case. The clock also has a beautiful painting on zinc of a lion who's eyes move left to right in sequence with the pendulum... this complication is called an "Augenwender" or "eye turner" complication.

Absoblutly fantastic clock.
poor lion, doomed eternally to scour a barren landscape for a meal that will never come. clueless to the savory cuckoo fanning its wings just overhead. deaf to the bird's song as he sings us all into oblivion.
I like the bird, but the lion sort of creeps me out. I wonder if he gave any kids nightmares.
Hi, great clock. Do you still have it? Is it for sale?
It sings or not?
