Love all the instructive stuff you do. I'm much more a cat than a dog person, but this dog reminded me of my grand-dog, Chase. I recommended your channel to my daughter. Great work!

i wish i could find a Vet like you here in the UK my dog got ear infection for the past 2 months i have been to the vet 6 times spend over £2000 inc CT Scan and the dog is still in the same condition !! Report from Vet : To further examine her middle ear and surrounding brain/ neck , we agreed on a CT scan. Haematology shows a mild non regenerative anaemia, consistent with chronic disease. C- reactive protein is normal. T4/TSH rules out hypothyroidism currently. Urine is appropriately concentrated at 1.060. I have received Pyper's CT report and will attach. It describes a mild mild thickening of the right tympanic bulla, gas filled, no masses. Mild changes in the right horizontal ear canal/ cartilages. Right digastricus atropgy consistent with facial neuropathy. I have liased with the telemedicine neurologist today about this case. The general opinion is there is a middle ear disease present ( could be viral that would have minimal CT change, or idiopathic ). In both cases unfortunately there is limited treatment option. It seems likely that given both the Horner's and facial neuropathy were present together that the localisation of disease is middle ear. If there were no cranial nerve deficits and Horner's syndrome alone , then we would also need to consider that the sympathetic trunk was affected in either brain, cervical region , thoracic cavity. On this CT study there are no lesions in the cranial cavity or cranial cervical area. I'm afraid that at this stage, I would deal with the mild ongoing otitis externa ( swabs pending ). Ear wicks can be helpful in dogs that resent topical treatment. I would consider pain relief for Pyper if she continues to be head shy . I did elicit pain of her hip region on clinical examination.

Hey Doc! Thanks for another great video! My pup Zelda has ear problems if I don't get her with the C.Liquid in the ear. Crust...Crustaceanous? Ha ha ha! Whatever it's called, keeping her ears clean is a TOP priority! I think it's because she's always listening to me talk to myself, so she builds up wax to drown me out! Ha ha ha!

Awwww, I had a chocolate. I know this regime all too well, it was a huge part of my life. Once in a blue moon my poor guy would have fluid buildup in his ear flaps thatdrainmy surgical draining no matter how clean I kept his ears.

Thanks a lot for the informative video. I have a Maltese toy and I am feeding her with fish and potato dry food past one and half year. But she has this redness in the ear and it gets smelly at times. I use an ear cleanser to flush out but can we fix this ear permanently? I give her treats which are also specific for allergic dogs for meat. thankfully her skin and coat has been good. These days she scratches her face so much that she ends up bleeding. this is terrible to face. probably because of the weather, pollen around. I use a HEPA vacum cleaner to clean the house. I will try veniger rinse for her ear. I so wish I can figure out what's the problem soon so me and my pet can stay calm. I will probably get a smear test done like you did. 🤔😣

I use it on my cat and it works great and doesn't require cleaning the ear or a prescription. Buy it at Amazon and read the remarks.

My dog had this treatment yesterday and I have a question. Is it painful for dogs? She was completely fine the day before her check up and the vet told us she had an ear infection, after they treated her she came back hurting she was crying all night. Is this normal?

been feeding my Shih Tzu/cattle dog mix Blue Buffalo since he's been eating solids. They make great foods and you can specalize type of food if you have a dog with different issues. EDIT: My little buddy has a chicken sensitivity (will scratch himself steady and lasts for 2 weeks) I feed him salmon & potato Blue Buffalo canned & I mix in the same flavor kibble. They also make salmon flavor soft treats that smell exactly like the aroma of smoked salmon in fisherman's warf in Monterey California.

Incredible! And NOT THE EAR INFECTION! The technician kept PULLING on the poor dog’s CHOKER CHAIN, so TIGHT, the dog had to be uncomfortable & NOT just from the massive Ear infection! I keep my dogs’ ear clean & free from debris etc. But I NEVER felt the need to restrain my dogs by CHOKING THEM! That dog was not fighting against the ear wash; let the poor thing BREATH! 😡 💨

Dr. Martinez is right, those name brand treats are poison, the first ingredient is wheat which is toxic to your dog. I cant believe you made a video the day I cleaned my dogs infected ears lol but now im armed with better knowledge because I didnt do a good enough job, is there any solution we can use other than the one shown in this video? We bough an antibiotic/antifungal form the vet but need to clean the ears better, there is still black waxy gunk in there and im not sure what liquid to use to clean it out, he has recurring infections, hes pit bull and will not let me anywhere near him with nail clippers and hates having his ears cleaned, what could I clean his ears with? Thank you for all your great videos, your a true doctor of real medicine, God bless!
