I'm blown away by how well this works. For those of us who are truly connected to our dogs, we know when they're feeling bad. My Chihuahua was absolutely miserable. I could literally feel it coming from his vibe he was in sp much pain. I went to pwt him like I do every day and he yelped when I touched his right side of his head. I checked and sure enough he had an ear infection. I tried making an appointment but my vet was a week in wait for seeing him. Then I saw this video and tried it. I took a little coconut oil in a small cup, placed that cup in small bowl of warm water, which melted the oil into liquid. I added the ACV and a little warm water. I cleaned Tony's ear with tea tree oil and applied the mixture. He didn't take to it very well the first time. I wiped any goop that dripped out, then let him rest. I did it again at night and applied a warm compress on his ear, he loved that. In the morning before he got up I could see he was still in pain. When I did it again around noon I again applied a warm compress. He slept like a baby. He woke up just now and looks so much better. I can pet his ear without him shying away. Thanks so much for this video doc. Anyone here checking this out and looking for a way to treat their dog, try it! It works amazingly.

My chihuahua is having a bad day today. She just got her rabies shot & bordatella and has been scratching, crying. Im assuming its her ear again. She gets it cleaned out and the vet puts in a 30 day med. of course her ear was ok so i didnt think to ask but now they are closed and im back to trying to clean it myself. She fights me like a big dog. I tried one of his other methods - using 1% clotrimazole because its for yeast issues. Fingers crossed. I wish i saw this vid first. It would have saved me a trip to store at 8pm.

Our dog is in the water almost daily in the summer. Last year we had to take him to the vet numerous times to address ear infections - it wasn't inexpensive. Decided to give this natural remedy treatment a try this summer. Works like a charm. Our dog almost never scratches at his ears any longer, has no pain, and we only see the vet for normal visits now. Such an effective and inexpensive solution. Thank you!

THANK YOU! My dog was shaking his head violently and tilting his head one Sunday. I attempted to take him to the vet but they were too busy and turned us away. I was disappointed and let down at first but it worked to my benefit. I went on a KZread binge and stumbled across this video. After two days of home treatment he is ok! I just treated my rescued kitty with Zymox Otic Enzymatic Solution with 1% Hydrocortisone for three weeks (I was not sure it was mites or an infection). First though I used the coconut oil for the first week to soothe and smother any mites if that was the case. I am happy to say her ears are all healed up. I followed up with every three days olive oil to aid in debris removal (barely any left good to say!). Now my dog. She is a breed that has very small ear holes and has Constant ear infections, especially in summer months (yeast). Just within days her ears are inflamed with that usual black gunk but this time she is panting (pain). So I am going to try this for her too as it worked with the kitty. Vet appointment is a month away so I thought we would try this first. So far two days in and she is not feeling so hot still so I gave her benadryl as my vet told me in the past I can use 1 mg per body weight. So she got 2 tablets of 50 mg (less than her weight but I wanted to be safe). She is feeling already much better just tonight to help with the inflammation and so she can sleep possibly. She is pacing everywhere and something I have not seen yet (she is an older dog). I will continue to do this until I am out of the solution (I have 1/2 bottle right now). Once I run out I will try this remedy until the Vet appt (I have two dogs and the kitty that need to go in for their routine boosters anyway). Thank you so much for your channel! I love it. And yes I did get the Zymox Otic from an older video so that is why I am trying this first as it worked so well on my kitty. Great content!

Going to give this a shot today. My Poe approached me a few hours ago tilting his head to the right and whimpering I tried looking into his ear and he was a bit frightened. He's had an ear infection once before about 5 years ago so I recognized the signs. I racked up a nice vet bill that time along with another incident of urinary infection he had. Over the past few years I've treated him naturally for urinary infections and colds (yes dog colds are a thing lol). I gave him some of your CBD drops to calm him and within 20 minutes he was more relaxed, will be heading to the store to get the witch hazel and trying this out. Hoping he allows me to treat him since he's always so protective when he is sick. Might have to give him another CBD dosage before treatment. Your videos are super appreciated and helpful, not only are they cost saving but so much friendlier than the chemical alternative! Will post updates!

Just treated Poe, I tried to clean his ear the best I could. He shook a lot of the witch hazel out but there was not much debris to wipe to begin with. It was a warm day today and the coconut oil was mostly melted, I sat it by the stove and melted all the way mixed in with ACV. I used a medicine syringe and slowly dropped it in, he shook in reaction but I was able to put more in , sloshed around and a lot poured out. He shook a few times so I'm hoping a lot more poured out. I will try to do this at least once a day for the next two days as to not traumatize him. I did give him 2 more CBD drops 20 minutes prior to treatment which certainly helped in allowing me to help him. My question is, how can I guarantee I've removed all treatment from his ear? What happens if a little bit of the mixture stays ? Thanks!

His ear looks so much better after just one treatment, I'll continue for a few days. Now if only there was a natural treatment for canine dental care😁

🙏🏻 thank you this worked for my 15 year old dog, and he enjoyed the flushing. He felt so relaxed afterwards he went straight to sleep after having a few nights of pain, it must have eased it a great deal. I will continue on for a few more days until it’s all clear. So much better than those harsh ear cleaners that don’t even work from the vets or online.

I’m so glad I came across your video, we have a 7 year old Rottweiler and she has suffered from yeast infected ears for the past few years. She has been back and forth to the vets multiple times and many treatments have been tried and failed. It’s going to be interesting to see how she gets on with this treatment. She seemed to enjoy the witch hazel and cleaning but since putting the ACV and coconut oil in she seems to be doing a great deal of ear scratching and head flapping. I guess that it’s starting to work already. Thanks again for sharing, much appreciated 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

@@yoshr02 hello yes it seems to genuinely work. She was not a great fan of the Apple cider vinegar to be honest and shied away from it. She did however get a lot of satisfaction from having the cool witch hazel to rinse her ears out. I only put it in her ears every couple of days and the smell and heat from the ears declined. She seems much happier and not flapping her ears as much so that tells me it works for sure. Highly recommend it if your best fiend has ear problems, don’t make the apple cider too strong though. Good luck

I was happy to see the coconut oil as a remedy for ear infections. I just had a question dose the coconut oil really need to be heated up or is it still something that is ok at room temperature? I always thought of the idea of placing a good size scoop of coconut oil in the ear and thought the warmth of the ear would do the melting and massaging the base of the ear to work it in. That's if coconut oil on its own is affective without the apple cider vinegar?

  • @thelouiebrand

You don’t want to full the canal with coconut oil. As you see he only did a hand full of drops. You can stir it with a clean finger and your warmth should melt it enough.

Thank you so much for this video! It is so hard to find a vet with a more natural approach to treat these problems. After many trips to our vet, the drill usually include antibiotics. By now I have realised that it is only a short term solution for a ongoing problem and that my poor pooch ends up with even more yeast overgrowth as the constant antibiotics knock their internal system off balance resulting in months of irritation and pain. I will certainly try this method. Thank you once more 🐶❤

Last time I took my dog to the vet for an ear infection, the bill was ridiculous. Now, I can affordably treat my dog at home, where he's comfy (he hates going to the vet), and it soothes him almost immediately. It takes longer than the vet chemicals I've used in the past but I prefer this natural path. I only use the coconut oil but it still works :)

Hello Dr Jones, thank you for all these informations and options of how we can try to take care of our family!! We have a dog acting/looks like she has ear infection or mites. It’s red、little bit of yellow dry pus, mostly black debris, smells strange like sweet and acidic. She had a cone on for about 4 weeks and she had antibiotics, antihistamine, anti inflammatory medicines for 10 days. I was worried but she had a small procedure for her hand infection (most likely from a dried spiky plant) And we followed the instructions we got from the vet. Now she is irritated… we started to clean it with apple cider vinegar & green tea, yesterday…rub her ear with clotrimazole cream, olive oil, now we got castor oil and calendula oil. Her ear does look better but we’re still not sure how we can make sure what we’re dealing with. It’s hard to tell what she has. 1. Would you tell us how we can define the difference between infection and mites? 2. would you tell us how we can prevent from us humans getting the mites because we would rather not keep her alone when we sleep especially at this hard time. 3. Is it better to keep a cone on her since she scratches her ear aggressively after treatments? Or keep the air flow under her ear? We’d appreciate your feedback and thoughts very much🙏

@Denece Blylevens It is probably the alcohol in the witch hazel that is stinging if there is an infection present. I don't know if this matters or not for Dr. Andrew's remedy, but there is a non- alcohol, unscented version of witch hazel and it also has the aloe🌿 in it. It's very gentle. It still has a very slight🤏 scent, but that's the way witch hazel smells and it's a pleasant scent.😊 It is made by Thayer's. It's the only one I will use on my persians.

My service dog used to let me clean his ears like Pipi. Then he had ONE double ear infection for the first time in his life in June 2019 - and since then, he lets me wipe his ears, but then tries to sit up and/or pull away from me when it comes time to use the ear solution cause he’s probably remembering that one ear infection. He’s like an elephant and never forgets stuff lol. I’ve tried every training trick I could think of. He gets training/reinforcement daily - even his favorite chicken hearts alongside clicker training for won’t motivate him to calm down. I’ve tried taking it in baby steps, so he no longer usually reacts when I pick up any bottle resembling an ear cleaner bottle. But when he realizes I’m about to put it into his ears, no dice. I feel bad cause he’s working himself up for nothing and it makes it difficult with my disabilities to have to hold him because he’s so strong. He’s insanely obedient and trained, so he’s really averse to ear cleaning since that one and only infection he had if he won’t follow commands. Any thoughts? I know people say you can put a wet paper towel into the ear opening with the cleaner, but he has really severe allergies, I need to know that his ears have been thoroughly cleaned to help with itching and other symptoms - that trick won’t get enough cleaner in his ears. He’s a large 6 y/o Lab, btw.
