Numbers recovering well. The Bald Eagle was delisted from the endangered status to "protected" meaning the population is large enough to recover and have healthy genetic diversity. There have been some great successes in conservation, many species are no longer endangered. Many are extinct too... some say if we let pandas go extinct and used the money to save species that... want to live, more could be done.

And doing up to 160 kph. I never realised the noise... in a Cessna the engine drowns everything out but here you really get a feel for it. Practically a living miniature fighter jet. And take a look at the side profile of the B2 bomber. It's an eagle!

AWESOME! This is exactly what it's like when I fly my hang glider. Hang gliding is the closest way to fly like a bird, even our landings are very similar in that we too have to flare and land on out feet. Thanks for posting.

Me too Alan W! I kept thinking that eagle was probably wondering why his L/D sucked so bad that day (with the camera rig on). LOL. There's another great eagle flying video if you haven't seen it called Flying eagle point of view #1. Slope soaring a ridge. Pretty cool! Love the airspeed changes in flight evident from the camera mike.

He seems to be able to do 45 mph with little effort and can accelerate to 80mph in level flight and that's with the added drag of the camera. He could easily do 240+ in a dive.

That was freaking awesome to watch. What an astonishing bird.

And on non-insects, nature needed more than 4 billion years on earth to develop this achievement to this quality. So we see 4 billion years of trial and errors, and selective pressure (survival of the fittest) - to be now in that phase of mastering flight in this perfection. For me, it really makes feel the perfection of 4 billion years development time.

@@PygmalionFaciebat I do believe in the fact that natural selection exists within the same species and that any eagle we find today may be more adapted to the current situations than the ones existing in the ancient times. However I don't believe completely in the theory of evoloution especially regarding the opinion that there exists an evolutionary relation between the species and that chimps are the ancestors of humans.

The Eagle had a eyeball on it's handler on the ground the whole time. What a beautiful perspective riding on the back of a eagle like they did in Lord of the Rings.

Anyone wonder, how would eagle's eyes sustain the wind blow and still be so accurate or just me!!!?

Absolutely Amazing. Almost 6 minutes flying without much flapping its wings, actually gliding. The 360 degrees turn at 3:16 to pinpoint its landing dpot. I couldn't fast forward a sec.

@@decorateur2024 In natural way, a lot of birds who cant fly: Emu-bird , Kiwi, Ostriches, Penguins etc etc ... And in non natural way, all birds, who are raised with by humans, and never teached to fly. The first flight for every bird is stressful - because the bird is born with the instinct: never fall out of the nest. So birds who are raised by hand, and never get forced into flight, keep the instinct how the bird is born (never fall out of the nest). But the first birds i mentioned - because there is no possible way that they can fly, they keep all the good reasons to be afraid of heights. Summa summarum: there are a lot of birds, and a lot of reason for birds, to be afraid of heights. A lot of birds overcome the fear, and fly. Yes. But a lot keep the fear of heights.
