Deborah Aaron yes you could use any materials you like , leather may be a bit thick for a regular sewing machine, may have to hand sew it , for a trifold , maybe 16” high x24”wide, each fold would be about 8” But keep in mind - one set of toes would be on the front and the second set of ties would be on the backside
