E6000 Glue vs Fabri Tac (glue review side by side testing)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi There,
Welcome to the Upcycle Design Lab. I like to craft with recycled, repurposed, and unwanted materials. If you enjoy reusing repairing and re-imagining old items, I hope you will stick around and check out some of my other Upcycling tutorials.
In this video, I am putting E6000 and Fabri-Tac to some head to head testing to see how they perform on wood, plastic, glass, paper, and more. Check out my video to find out they perform.

    I’m not too surprised at the results except for your fabric samples. Fabri-Tac by its very name implies fabric though I have used it successfully for rhinestones. I use it for fabric, lace, and trims and love it. I have never had anything pull off, and in fact can hardly get it off. It doesn’t stain, stays clear and soft and I can even tea dye over it and it gives me a uniform color.

    Informative episode. Not that both products should have at least 24 hours for full strength. And E-6000 continues to gain strength for up to 3 days if you can wait that long.

    I am using Fabritac for reupholstering vintage bicycle saddles, (mostly old Italian ones ) ,glue grabs fast which is very important to me because seats got crazy anatomical shapes, I do not use any staples glue holds very well ( leather to plastic) ,lot of times I do same saddles over and over again every 3-5 years,bikes otfen left outside all year around ,so when I am getting them back I am checking the glue and it holds pretty good.

    Superglue doesn’t even work on plastic or silicone… You need some kind of bonding specialized for that but surprisingly for fabric I found that hot glue works the best

    Would you have a suggestion for metal embellishments to paper. I have the metal pieces with rhinestones I am putting on paper purses. I used hot glue and they are coming off. I thought about trying e6000 and beacon 3 in 1 glue as I have both. BUt was curios what others think so I dont ruin my project. haha! this video was great!

    Thanks for watching. I don't know for certain what the E6000 glue would do to the paper but I don't think that it is an acid free (safe for paper) glue. I don't know if this would work for your project but certain mounting tapes are made for metal and I think they are safe for paper.

  • @UpcycleDesignLab

    @UpcycleDesignLab

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi thanks for your question. Sorry I am not sure how to answer your question. The glue would certainly keep the ends from fraying but it will be a little stiff and crunchy so you would probably want to test it out first.

    Hi, thanks for your question. The "a" heart is from a previous video it is glued with mod podge which holds really well but is quite stiff when it dries. I think it is actually the best for fabric and patches but I would recommend testing it to see if you like the way it finishes on your particular fabric.

    Hi Carla - I am sorry but I don't know how to answer your question. I am not familiar with Bio-platic fabrics. In my experience with plastics in general I would use the E6000 glue but it also depends on the project. If you need to smooth the glue out over a large surface e6000 is not a good choice.
