E36 Lock Adapters = Bozo Angle for Cheap! : BMW E36 325i Drift Build Ep.27
The E36 gets a Driftworks lock kit. It's one of the easiest ways to get serious angle, and you don't even have to any fabrication work. I'll be putting the kit to the test soon and will give a detailed review.

The x-brace is one if the best cheap mods to the e36. Definitely tightens up steering feel, and as a bonus it protects the oil pan. Some subframes are already threaded for them, if not, it's easy enough to install the nutserts. What a difference they make though.
Penetrating spray and acetylene or mapp gas is your friend when breaking loose stuck tie rods. The pipe wrench trick definitely helps. 5/8" is 16mm while 1/2" is 13mm. Another thing I noticed is your running the non-m front sway link setup. You'll notice a huge difference with the sway link pickup point attached to the strut, (m3 struts attach this way for a reason.) You can buy cnc'd tabs from akgmotorsport.com or cut some off a pair of junk m3 struts and weld them on. The sway bar has much more of a 'levering' effect this way. You can also buy off the shelf adjustable endlinks or make your own out of heim joints, jamb nuts and threaded shift rods like I did. Coleman racing sells the threaded shift rod, and pegasus racing the heim ends and jamb nuts. This will allow you to dial in your preload exactly like you want it. Great bang-for-buck mod if you ever track your car or drive it hard.
Looking forward to seeing your build completed!
Waited this video like a kid for christmas. Thanks austin keep up the good work! and keep it sideways
Awesome tutorial video bro, have just picked up a set of these adaptors with no instructions and this was an awesome help all the way in New Zealand bro.
I've said it once and ill say it again, your builds are fire🔥🔥🔥
Another cool video man, love your e36! Liking the oem bit's that's how I would do it. Patients & you'll get there dude, I always wondered how those steering angle kits went lol
You look absolutely exhausted in these last few videos, don't wear yourself out too much man happy to wait for quality content
If those 16" wheels are from an e39 like I'm guessing they are, you need hubcentric centering rings. The e39 uses a 74.1mm hub, while the e36 is a 72.56mm. The centerbore on the e39 wheels is larger. Without the rings you'll get a vibration and put unwanted stress on the lug bolts. The hub is designed to take the weight of the car and NOT the lugs. Hope that solves your vibration issue. EDIT: just watched the end of the video. You just mentioned what I said. My bad. I should've watched the whole thing before commenting on that part.
I'm stoked you made this vid, I was just looking at these for my e46 but wasn't %100 sure how they went on.

I'd check toe again it can cause that shake, and I'd go with e46 arms for sure they will give you clearance everywhere you need it!!!

+1 on the e46 arms for drifting duty. Probably the best cost effective choice for a budget drifter.
I use same adapters (but 25% extra lock on M3 knuckles). It was same story with cutting tie rods (inner and outer one). I had some headaches but it's worth it - it's cheap ghetto angle kit haha. I should extend control arms but i didn't using 30mm spacers and 17x7.5 et30ish wheels instead. I found later on full lock control arm ball joint rubbing into the brake disc WTF, might be because non arms with M3 knuckles though. So I welded some bump stops to reduce slightly the max lock. Overall car is good , definitely steering response is much different. If you have a buddy who can chop the knuckles and reweld them might be better IMO
tight work dude
This 36 makes mine look like a clean one!
So picking up some of these for my e30...
5:42 That hammer Tho!!!
27.60$ on E-Bay work great fit perfectly and the cheaper ones are identical to the hundred dollar set. I have had expensive and cheap couldn't even tell the difference at all
Btw I don't know if you know the trick, but if you take a BFH and hit the side of the knuckle where the tie rod link goes through the end will pop right out without possibly mashing the nut and fucking up the threads on the link, or causing premature wear to the ball joint "socket" end of the link. That being said, this trick also works fantastic on the ball joints when it comes to removing the LCA. If you are reusing anything, this keeps the risk of unwanted slop and wear in the joints. You can also put another BFH against the knuckle and hit it with another BFH which totally keeps all the hammer marks off of the knuckle. Just a tip from over 25 years of turning wrenches on these cars.
firee content. moar e36 !!!
Stop promissing drifting videos and upload!!!!!
Nice man! Just 2 things You should have extended your lower control arms, therefore you wouldnt need to cut the tie rods, and you would have more inside clearence, it shouldn't rub anymore... Other thing, Please, use slightly smaller tyres in the front, like 215/45, or 205/45! Keep it up!

Definitely, and you surely know a thing or two about setting up a drift car. I'll forver be jealous of yours and I'm looking to pick up sine E46 arms soon. I'll also try and pick up some smaller front tires, I didn't really put much thought into that. Thanks for the guidance!

Thanks for the complimment man!! ;) I think you should NOT pick e46 arms.. You know how to weld and have skills in craftsmanship, just extend you oem arms a little bit! ;) If u do the e46 ones you are going to have issues again because they are much wider than the e36's and the tyre WILL rub in the arm it self with that much lock you have... Trust me! ;) Hit me up on Instagram if you need some pics of "how to" do the e36 arms mod! Cheers!!

^ don't spend the money on the e46 arms, they are a lot wider and do rub a lot. I ran them before I extended my e36 ones and rubbed all the time.

daniel0663 yeah they are longer and will give you more camber, but they are cast wider than the stock e36 arms. where the e46 arm bents 90 degrees is a lot wider than the e36 arms. if you google a side by side comparison, the e36 ones are skinnier. its hard to explain lol

+DUCKRILLA if I extended my control arms say a inch or inch and a half will it make my wheels push out wider?(lower offset) spacers seem sketchy and I want a little more poke lol. also planning on getting angle blocks.
@ Austin Ferguson, I had put e46 arms and e90 outer tie rods which I cut to be about a centimeter longer than the stock ones. I adjusted toe so that it was around 1/8 an inch in total toe out. When I don't initatie using the hydro or clutch kicking, so when I try and use a flick, I have understeer issues. Don't know if you've experienced the same issues I have. Not sure what to adjust, what do you think it could be. Drove my friends bmw who had put e46 arms, left the stock tie rods, and used the tierod ebay spacers you have, I drove his car and it doesn't feel quite right either...
you need logest arms or specers 4cm and front wheels from e23 with et10 ant tires 205/40/45
whats better for more angle having a tie rod cutting and stock control arms or tie rod giving a lot of toe out and extending lower control arms or they are the same ?
Austin i'm waiting nearly few months for your turbo install and intercooler.
What have you done since the rubbing?? My e46 has same angle adapters just not tie rod spacers yet but the wheels totally hit the frame rails!!
so if u did not have rack spacers would the tie rods still need to be chopped? im assuming they wouldn't?
You need e46 control arms Its make it a lot wider

Go with lower profile tires & you will have a lot more room!
Hey man im from Fayetteville do you know when and where is the next event
What was the reason you cut the tie rods? What would happen if you didn't cut them?
Those driftwork locks have taper? I got a different brand lock and had no luck, the tie rods just wallow out and get loose, not usable or safe
Do the e46 brake caliper upgrade swaps right in and braided brake lines
E46 control arms will sort out you rubbing problem also e46 60mm compact bushes will fit the e36 lollipops
Hey. I know you probably don't get this often but would you be willing to make a stick cam while your drifting ? It would be cool to get a shifting tutorial to while drifting !
Mind telling us what tire and wheels specs you have in the front? I'm going for a 17x9 wheel, yes it will be fun :/
Not sure if youll reply since its an older vid but do you remember how much you cut off the tie rods to make it work and if their was any issues with that?
Can someone clear up if its better to get e46 lower control arms for thus mod?
Why not go with e46 control arms and e90 tie rods? Would definitely help
Would these still work if I had e46 arms on my e36?
What headlights are those? I was going to do a light bar conversion on my e36, but I rather keep that OEM look to a certain extent. I'm going to start uploading videos of my car too! I installed some BC DR coilovers today but got too shy to film hahaha. keep up the videos.
how have those ebay seats hold up?
I'm so jealous my e36 is rusted af whiles these guys that are making video of there e36 is so cool
how are the seats holding up? i wanted to buy some but im not sure if they comfortable
@austinferguson5504

They've held up great and essentially still look new. They're also very comfortable and they won't make you sweat like stock leather seats. I'd definitely recommend them. +Steve Sanchez
Dont tint front lights. Also would you like crystal clear tail lights?
You may observed already or will very soon, your Akerman Angle is near zero and your car is understeering badly in close corners/turns like when doing a U turn in a parking. I also have this adapters and they are very nice for drifting but you should sacrifice with the steering when driving normaly. Also, going forward and sharing my experience with E46 control arms and excentric bushings, it will give you a lot wider track about 2inches per wheel but unfortunately it will not give you a lot more space for the wheel to get a bigger angle. Good luck!
Do you need to cut your tie rods if you're running E46 arms?
Bro what did you do in this pipe I love The sound 🔥🔥🔥🥺🥺
Could this lock kit work on a e30?
greetings to all friend a question that adapter only serves for bmw or is universal
Maaaaad! I just slammed my e36 👌🏻👌🏻
I wanna buy a car but I have to wait till summer to work in the field bc of school any ideas of cheap ass rwd cars?
Im using that and e46 control arms. I recommend that. Also i recommend not buying those adapters in aluminium
Hey do u still have the headlights
Waiting for so long for a new vid, got hyped, expecting turbo build.. Nope no turbo build for you :(
so you absolutely had to cut the tie rods? couldn’t just adjust them to make them short ?
The E46 aluminum swingarm should be inserted and the wheel will not fall into the raincover because the e46 swingarm is 2.5cm longer than the original
you should do e46 arms next
how many %% adapter do you have? 20? 25? 30?

Why did you not use E90 inner tie rods?
Rack spacers no more than 4mm or bye bye rack :)
Did you feel tie rod shacking?
awesome
more camber on the front :) Just get some E46 lower control arms :)
why not buy the 30% ones? I saw driftworks only sells 20% but why?
Salam dari indonesia bosku
Where have u been bro?!
Okkaaayyyy soooo
you only doing angle videos... what about the turbo build????
Whos the other youtuber who sent you the adapters?
Try bondoing the trim on the side of the car and making it flush with the rest of the car
You could simply get spacers and over fenders and the wheels won't hit the frame
@austinferguson5504

I actually have 30mm spacers and low offset e38 wheels (the wheels are over 2in's farther out than stock). The main problem is the stock e36 control arms. I need to get e46/extended control arms, which would push the wheels out even farther and give me the clearance I need. +Marco S.

i am running rackspacers this lockkit from driftworks and e46 control arms you get a little bit more angle with e46 arms and camber you can buy poly bushings for e46 that fits in to the lolli bush on e36 or just grind down e46 arms to fit in to the bushing :)

daniel0663 i am running right now stock e36 wheels 195 65 15 at front with 35mm spcers they do not rub but will be running style 32 17" inch at the front for a little more grip
i own a e36 320ci and i was wondering if they fit cuz i could only see that you need 46s arms cuz else they wont fit, but man are you a hero. while watching ive orded them and i cant wait to get some angle on that btch :). (ive got spacers on my front wheels so i wont have that clearance issue)
