I think it’s now customary for every major EYE video to start with a clip of that one guy saying ‘Bob, get the electrodes for the genitals ready!

EYE Divine Cybermancy! I was also into Deus ex back in the day, but EYE replaced it as my favourite game of all time. As a french guy with almost 600 hours in it, I'll respond to some of your questions/points that you raised during the reaction. *-Meaningless lore/not worth playing for the story?* Well, Mandalore essentially spoiled a lot of things for you, this is possibly the only Sseth/mandy video where it is worth skipping the spoiler section if you intend to play it. The game still has a story that I would call enjoyable, however you do have to play with a "Deus Ex" mindset: think for yourself and look around for clues and NPC interactions. Most of the questions that you'll have can be answered by looking around, finding secrets, information and learning who is lying to you/omitting things on purpose. As an agent working for the super CIA/inquisition in space, you'll probably guess that you can't trust everything your colleagues and higher-ups tell you. There's a lot of deeper lore and complex things that even Mandalore didn't get into, so you have that to look out for. *-Three playthroughs? That's a bit much for the true ending.* Mandalore did not make it completely clear, but you keep everything from one playthrough to another, NG+ style. After beating the game for the first time, you'll still have a lot of questions. Well, just like with the original Deus ex, this is the perfect opportunity to replay the campaign while making different choices, picking new dialogue options and finding new ways to complete missions. You can look around for secrets you haven't found and the like. It also helps that your subsequent playthroughs will go a lot quicker, as with Deus ex. As you've already beaten it once and know what you're doing, you can beat the campaign in only a couple of hours, all the while getting new skills, weapons and research items. Each gameplay path also has its own unique scenarios, powers and map, which are all fun to discover. *I hate death penalities!* So do I! However, I never felt the need to cheese my saves or hack my stats. EYE's death system is a bit convoluted, but you don't get penalties every time you die, only on rare occasions (like falling outside the map for instance, which is hard to do on most maps). And even when you it does trigger, the death penalty is barely noticeable (and by that I mean, losing a point or two out of 80, which you'll earn back and surpass by just continuing to play). You'd have to be a polygon journalist for this to be noticeable, and as Mandalore said, once you get to late-game research, you can heal those stat debuffs and regain all your lost points, (becoming immune to that type of loss at the same time) leading to a decent jump in power at late-game. It serves its gameplay function rather well, taking a few points here and there that you won't notice, until you earn it back once you have proven yourself and mastered the game. *Huge empty maps without enemies?* This was not clear in the video, but it's not exactly true. EYE maps can have empty sections in them for one reason or another, but there is probably a good amount of enemies concentrated in a few zones on it. Now, there are a few maps which are notorious for this, but the reduced amount of enemies usually serves a purpose (lore reasons/ambiance/ highlighting something other than combat). And if you find yourself too alone, you can directly change the spawn rates mid-mission if you want. Sorry for the rather long comment! I think that was all of the things that you wanted to know about. The game really has its own vibe, and if you respect it, it will respect you back. The community is still alive and kicking, and we celebrated EYE's 10 year anniversary not too long ago. I hope that you'll give it a chance, but I'll be the first to admit: it's not for everyone, but god dammnit, it's a lot of janky fun!

Thanks for the veteran insight! It definetly looks like a game not for everyone, but those are usually really fucking cool because they offer unique experiences.

@@strawberin0 That's very true. There's a unique experience that you can only get by finding one of these hidden gems, even if they can be a bit rough around the edges

Naaah, the one I had in mind was UberHaxorNova, and that playthrough is fucking old, 12 years old I think? It was kinda funny because he and his buddy are very much "casual" players, so EYE really ground them down and they dropped it in the end. But the jankiness and weirdness made for some great reactions from them (such as one clip where they made a guy suicidal and he bugged out in a wall while trying to kill himself) and clearly made a great impression on younger me who did not consume games like that at the time.

My Legs are OK My Legs are OK You Gain Brouzouf! Bullshit! Ultra failed attack Joking aside EYE is a game that has absolutely changed my life's perception on games and media like it. I have played for a very long time since release and enjoyed it's predecessor Syndicate Black Ops before. It's a janky and surreal game but it's fun and mysterious
